Jan 1st 2002 (Tuesday): 26 degrees this morn & sun is shining, got up to 36
degrees this afternoon. Nothing on TV but ball games.
Jan 2nd 2002 (Wednesday): Was going to go to town tomorrow but the sun was
shining so good this morn I decided to go today & I did. 35 degrees was the high
today. I was expecting Alice to come down but she hasn’t. They went out Ruth
said.
Jan 3rd & 4th 2002 (Thursday & Friday): 18 degrees this morn & its cold. Takes
lot of time just keeping a good fire. Today is day for garbage pickup but on
account of New Years Day it will be tomorrow. Alice got my new mailbox that
she got me, put up.
Jan 5th 2002 (Saturday): Well it is raining, but 35 degrees. Supposed to get up
in the upper 40’s today. Went & bought in plenty wood for today & tomorrow.
Glad it has warmed up some. Alice called they have not went out.
Jan 6th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church this morn & back to church tonight.
Looked like rain but only rained a little. Alice & Don was going out tonight to
work.
Jan 7th 2002 (Monday): Did laundry. Got in a good supply of wood & it is
supposed to be warmer all this week. Mailed my water bill.
Jan 8th 2002 (Tuesday): 30 degrees this morn, supposed to get in the 60’s
today. Nice & sun is shining. Windy tho out of the northeast. Hope to rake a
little in the yard tomorrow if it gets in the 70’s like they said.
Jan 9th 2002 (Wednesday): 40’s early this morn. Sun is so bright got to get out
after dinner & work in the yard some. Go to the mailbox. Did sweep some in
yard & burned trash over the two stumps in the back & burned a lot of straw.
Jan 10th 2002 (Thursday): Swept in the front yard today and burned the leaves.
Sure looks better.
Jan 11th 2002 (Friday): Didn’t do much today a little cooler.
Jan 12th 2002 (Saturday): Leah & Jenna came over & we made fig cookies all
day after dinner. I am so tired. Got them all done.
Jan 13th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice today & tonight. Pretty weather
only a little cool but nice for January.
Jan 14th 2002 (Monday): Did laundry & vacuumed about all I did all day except
regular things like go get mail & bring in wood. Today is Nancy’s birthday, 51
years old today.
Jan 15th 2002 (Tuesday): Today is Mary’s birthday, 63. Fair & sun shining. I
intend to go to town if it’s the Lords will. Ham is in hospital & not doing good.
Jan 16th 2002 (Wednesday): Well I forgot to write in here and I am way late,
doing fine.
Jan 17th 2002 (Thursday): Real warm today don’t even need a fire. Swept
some out by the turn around tree & burned the straw. Leah & Jenna came over
this afternoon.
Jan 18th 2002 (Friday): A little cooler this morn. Built a fire. Mary called & said
Ham was home & feeling good.
Jan 19th 2002 (Saturday): 36 degrees this morn & raining a slow drizzle. Quit
raining about 11am & it is still 40 degrees outside. Got my wood in as soon as it
quit raining.
Jan 20th 2002 (Sunday): Cloudy this morn but the sun is trying to come out from
behind the clouds, 30 degrees this morn. Went to church twice. Preacher
preached on Song of Solomon & I had never heard a sermon on Song of
Solomon.
Jan 21st 2002 (Monday): Holiday today, no mail, Martin L. King’s birthday. This
was Bonnie’s birthday also. Cold this morn 29 degrees. Sun is shining tho.
Could be warmer by noon. Did laundry. Swept in yard some.
Jan 22nd 2002 (Tuesday): Alice came down today & I fixed dinner for us & we
played Rummy Cube for about 3 or 4 hours. Then she had to go home. They
have been working on the house where Tammy & family did live. She is going to
sell it.
Jan 23rd 2002 (Wednesday): Sure looks like rain today. 70 degrees outside this
morn, that must break a record for January 23rd. Steve spent the night here last
night. He don’t know what he wants to do, he is fixing up his old trailer to live in.
Jan 24th 2002 (Thursday): 70 degrees early this morn. Don’t know if it rained
last night or not. Didn’t need a fire all day yesterday. Supposed to torn cooler
today.
Jan 25th 2002 (Friday): Yes its cooler, 28 degrees this morn a big frost but the
sun is shining so pretty & warming everything up. Now at 9:30 it is 35 degrees.
Jan 26th 2002 (Saturday): Pretty today & warm just needed a little fire. Alice
came down & I went with her to see their house they have for sale, how she had
cleaned & painted, looks real good.
Jan 27th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice, not so cold today. Left my coat
in the car because it got warmer. Fair & sun is shining & we have a full moon at
night.
Jan 28th 2002 (Monday): 47 degrees this morn, made a fire but will let it go out
later. Fixing to do laundry & everything. Will try to go shopping tomorrow.
Jan 29th 2002 (Tuesday): Went shopping this morn. Sue is warm for January.
Didn’t even need a jacket. Got groceries & my medicine.
Jan 30th 2002 (Wednesday): Well one more day in January. Sure warm again
this morn, 65 degrees this morn. Going to turn colder tomorrow. Got a long
letter from Tammy yesterday. She writes the most interesting letters. Had a
picture of her house in it made on her computer.
Jan 31st 2002 (Thursday): Well its 65 degrees this morn & sun is shining but is
supposed to change today to rain & much cooler. Got to get up & wash my hair.
Study my Sunday school lesson.
Feb 1st 2002 (Friday): A real pretty day, until about 1:30 this afternoon, then a
cloud came up & started raining & turned colder. Had to make a fire in the
fireplace. Cold this morn 31 degrees outside.
Feb 2nd 2002 (Saturday): Groundhog Day. Cold 28 degrees this morn &
supposed to be cold all week. Got lots of snow & ice north of here. Thankful we
didn’t get falling weather when it was cold. Sun shining this morn & looks good.
Feb 3rd 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice today, had good preaching. Real
nice day, didn’t rain & the days are getting longer. Sure glad of that.
Feb 4th 2002 (Monday): Did laundry this morn. Cloudy early this morn but faired
off around ten o’clock 54 degrees high for today. Mary called & Ham is doing
real good.
Feb 5th 2002 (Tuesday): Well; it is snowing today. Sometimes the flakes are so
big they look like snowballs falling. Don’t know how long this is going to last. Not
sticking to the ground yet but piling up on grass & straw. Everything is white. I
went & got in more wood early this morn when it first started snowing just fine
snow then. But got to be big snowflakes.
Feb 6th 2002 (Wednesday): Well it don’t look like it snowed any last night.
About 4 inches deep but has melted quite a bit. Where I walked yesterday
getting in wood is melted this morn except out by the woodpile. Hope it melts
enough by this afternoon so I can get more wood, but I think I have enough on
the porch for today & tomorrow.
Feb 7th 2002 (Thursday): Cold early this morn again, 32 degrees, but the sun is
shining (hallelujah) I am so glad to see the sun melting this snow, it is really
falling out of the trees & everywhere, just hope we don’t get anymore.
Feb 8th 2002 (Friday): Well the sun is shining so bright I hope all the snow gets
gone off the house so I can go out the back door without getting wet. It is still
melting off the house. Hard to get wood in when I can’t use the back door. Sun
sure is nice shining so bright. I am trying to hang a sheet in my half bath over the
door to shower, curtain rods are broke.
Feb 9th 2002 (Saturday): Fair this morn 36 degrees. Supposed to rain tonight &
cooler. Supposed to be 60 degrees by noon. Supposed to be strong winds
tonight & in the morning.
Feb 10th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice today. Alice came down for the
afternoon. Had a nice crowd at church tonight, or at least a lot more than usual.
Feb 11th 2002 (Monday): Did laundry, paid my electric bill. A beautiful sun shiny
day & not to cold.
Feb 12th 2002 (Tuesday): Will try to go to town today. Sun is shining but cold 30
degrees this morn, a big frost. I went to town & it really warmed up. Left my
watch at the jewelers for a new battery.
Feb 13th 2002 (Wednesday): The sun shined all day today & in the 60’s at noon
but a cold wind. Travis said David is in the hospital at Camden, another blood
clot.
Feb 14th 2002 (Thursday): Today is Valentine’s Day, which is no meaning to me
at my age. Sun is shining & 36 degrees this morn. Travis thinks David will get to
come home today, & he did.
Feb 15th 2002 (Friday): 40 degrees this morn & sun is shining bright should be
up to 60’s today. Steve & Michelle are in his trailer last night & this morn. A fire
still feels good.
Feb 16th 2002 (Saturday): Real pretty day, sun is shining but cool enough for a
fire all day. Michelle is staying with Steve this weekend.
Feb 17th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church this morn & meant to go tonight. Went
over to Travis or at least I tried, the road was closed so I came back to church,
but it was way to early. I sat there in the parking lot & read for about 30 minutes.
Was still to early so I just came home & missed church.
Feb 18th 2002 (Monday): Did laundry. Warm but cool enough for fire & had fire
all day.
Feb 19th 2002 (Tuesday): Trying to fix this curtain for the shower door. Hope it
works out all right. Steve came over for calling Michelle as she went home
Monday. They got the carpet down in his living room.
Feb 20th 2002 (Wednesday): 63 degrees yesterday & 52 degrees this morn.
Got a fire going as the house got cold yesterday. Got up at 3:30 this morn. Got
to mop & vacuum today, go to town tomorrow.
Feb 21st 2002 (Thursday): I went to town again today. Picked up my watch sure
was glad to get it going. A beautiful day. They are going to build a big super
Wal-Mart in Magnolia. Not far from the present one. Leah & Jenna came over.
Feb 22nd 2002 (Friday): Was a nice day today. Didn’t do much of importance.
Feb 23rd 2002 (Saturday): Well the last week of February is coming up. Mailed
a Birthday card to Mrs. Martin. (Nancy’s mother-in-law) Sun is shining & 50
degrees at noon.
Feb 24th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice. Had McNeil over tonight & Bro.
Baskin preached a real good sermon. Had a nice crowd & good singing.
Feb 25th 2002 (Monday): Did laundry today & it is fixing to turn cold tonight.
Feb 26th 2002 (Tuesday): 32 degrees this morn & supposed to be in the lower
20’s or teens tonight. Hope this is our last real cold spell.
Feb 27th 2002 (Wednesday): 17 degrees this morn & only 32 degrees at noon.
Really cold & will be the rest of this week.
Feb 28th 2002 (Thursday): David’s birthday. Well, this is the last day of
February. 21 degrees this morn, coldest weather all winter & it just keeps
hanging on. Keeping a good fire going. Leah & Jenna didn’t come by today.
Mar 1st 2002 (Friday): Being that Leah didn’t come by, I went over to Travis &
David’s this afternoon & took David his birthday card. Rained hard from here to
Lamartine & then none the rest of the way.
Mar 2nd 2002 (Saturday): Got in a bunch of wood for it may snow tomorrow.
50’s right now this morn but will turn cold tonight in the 20’s.
Mar 3rd 2002 (Sunday): Yes it was cold last night & will be cold again tonight.
Already in the 20’s at 8pm. Just got home from church. Bro. Orris preached
tonight & we got out a little before sun down. Sure was nice. Will be so glad to
see it turn warmer.
Mar 4th 2002 (Monday): Well it is cold this morn 20 degrees. It’s 8 o’clock & still
20 outside. Will do laundry as soon as it warms up some. Supposed to be
warmer tomorrow.
Mar 5th 2002 (Tuesday): Went to town grocery shopping this morn. A pretty day,
lot warmer. Got my shopping all done & home by 12:30.
Mar 6th 2002 (Wednesday): 50 degrees this morn at 8 o’clock, cloudy but nice.
Got to go mail some bills. Alice called last night & they are home.
Mar 7th 2002 (Thursday): 60 degrees this morn. Didn’t need to build a fire.
Alice came down last night & we played Rummy Cube until 10pm. Sunny this
morn & going to get warmer.
Mar 8th 2002 (Friday): Leah & Jenna didn’t get to come yesterday so Leah called
& said they would try to come by today. I am reading the book of Joshua again &
would like others to read it. Leah & Jenna came by today. 75 degrees today.
Mar 9th 2002 (Saturday): Rained last night, had a lot of thunder & lightning.
Turning cooler will need a fire by tonight. Supposed to be quite a bit cooler
tomorrow. 74 degrees this morn. Wind blowing out of the north.
Mar 10th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice today. Melba J. Hambrice has a
boyfriend. Mr. Gillithie of Bethel. Very few at church tonight. Got home way
before dark.
Mar 11th 2002 (Monday): Done laundry this morn. Got in wood & it is trying to
rain. Probably will rain all day. So I’ll do laundry today. Alice came by
yesterday.
Mar 12th 2002 (Tuesday): Walked down to Ruth’s mailbox & back. Got mail.
Mar 13th 2002 (Wednesday): Washed sheets off my bed. Rained nearly all day.
Got in wood early this morn before it started to rain.
Mar 14th 2002 (Thursday): Went to see Mrs. Blakely this afternoon. Had a nice
visit, she sure has a nice roomy trailer. Cashed my refund check from the
electric company as I went to town.
Mar 15th 2002 (Friday): Swept a little in the yard out by the cedar tree in front.
Trimmed nearly all the Crepe Myrtle trees & broke up a box of kindling for the
fireplace. Warm today, 78 degrees.
Mar 16th 2002 (Saturday): Cooler today 45 degrees had to make a fire & it feels
good. Been cooler all day. Cloudy, no sun today.
Mar 17th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church today, was cold all thru preaching.
Should have worn my big coat. Poured down rain all the way home & still rained
all afternoon. I am not going to try to get out tonight. Just to rainy.
Mar 18th 2002 (Monday): Rainy all day yesterday & last night & still looks like
rain. Doing laundry. Hope the sun comes out this afternoon 57 degrees.
Mar 19th 2002 (Tuesday): I went to Magnolia this morn & did my grocery
shopping. Tried to rain but didn’t do much. Got home & made two pecan pies to
take to church for tonight. Sprinkled rain even then, 64 degrees today.
Mar 20th 2002 (Wednesday): First day of spring. It’s raining but warm, 65
degrees outside. Not doing much today.
Mar 21st 2002 (Thursday): Still raining, I can’t do anything outside, haven’t had a
fire for 2 days. So don’t have to bring in wood.
Mar 22nd 2002 (Friday): Would have been Arvie’s birthday. No rain this morn &
cooler. Had to build a fire. Got in firewood but it sure is wet outside, but the sun
is shining. I have to go send a book back from Prevention. They sent the wrong
one. I took Ruth to beauty parlor to get hair cut.
Mar 23rd 2002 (Saturday): 30 degrees this morn, but the sun is shining.
Supposed to warm by tomorrow. Got a nice letter from Tammy. Alice called they
were in Texas.
Mar 24th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice today. Bro. Lindsey preached on
Song of Solomon again tonight. I read some of the commentary on Song of
Solomon & it’s hard to understand.
Mar 25th 2002 (Monday): Did laundry & it’s cloudy. Supposed to start raining
this afternoon & tonight storms.
Mar 26th 2002 (Tuesday): Didn’t rain any yesterday but sprinkled just a little.
Cooler today had to have a fire, cloudy.
Mar 27th 2002 (Wednesday): Sun shined from noon on the rest of the today & a
little warmer but had a fire nearly all day. Moped today.
Mar 28th 2002 (Thursday): Made peanut butter cookies, but I burned them. I will
do that over & be careful not to burn them. Sun is shining so pretty today &
warm enough that I don't need a fire.
Mar 29th 2002 (Friday): Today is Melody’s birthday. I burned brush & limbs
today on my stump. Looks like the stump will not burn. 80 degrees today.
Mar 30th 2002 (Saturday): Not quite as warm today & looks like rain. It rained a
little last night. Tomorrow is Easter Sunday.
Mar 31st 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice today. Had a pretty good bunch
there, got 3 new members. Daylight saving time next Sunday.
Apr 1st 2002 (Monday): Well it has finally got to April. April Fools Day. Did
laundry, burned leaves on south end of house. Got to rake a lot more.
Apr 2nd 2002 (Tuesday): Went shopping this morn. Ruth went with me. She
had to get some stuff. Wal-Mart was closed last Sunday.
Apr 3rd 2002 (Wednesday): Has turned cooler 50 degrees. Burned some straw
I had raked up. Broke up some more kindling that should be enough for this fire
season. Got in some more wood.
Apr 4th 2002 (Thursday): Went to town again this morn as I forgot half of what I
went after Tuesday. Got oil for lawn mower & some sleeping pills. Fair today.
Leah & Jenna came by.
Apr 5th 2002 (Friday): Sun is shining here today but is supposed to rain by
Sunday & warm up next week.
Apr 6th 2002 (Saturday): Had good fire this morn but has warmed up now &
getting cloudy. Had a fire most of today. Cleaned front porch.
Apr 7th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice today had a lot better crowd.
Cloudy all day.
Apr 8th 2002 (Monday): Stormed all night & my electric went off & had to feel my
way in the house with no lights. Alice came down for me to go with her to
Tammy’s house. I didn’t want to go off with my electric all off, but I went & when
we came home they were still off. They came out around 6pm. Had to do
something with the transformer. Sure nice to have electric on again. Tammy &
family are doing real good.
Apr 9th 2002 (Tuesday): Nice to have a good cup of coffee this morn that I didn’t
have yesterday. Don’t need a fire this morn & I don’t think I will anymore. Going
to clean out fireplace & put wood back out on the woodpile. My yard is a disaster
area with limbs that blew off.
Apr 10th 2002 (Wednesday): Beautiful day today & warm & sun is shining.
Cooked some chicken thighs. Got to get out & pick up more limbs in the yard
where Sunday nights storm really blew down all kinds of limbs.
Apr 11th 2002 (Thursday): Leah & Jenna came by for tea & cookies. Picked up
so many limbs & burned two wheelbarrows full of them & that is not all. Looks
like a never-ending job. Got my mower ready to mow & will start that Monday.
Apr 12th 2002 (Friday): Picked up more limbs & still have at lease one more
wheelbarrow full. Will get that tomorrow if I can. The Lord is helping my legs if I
can just get through with picking up trash.
Apr 13th 2002 (Saturday): Bills birthday today & Timothy Moor’s. Already mailed
his card. A turkey flew up in Bills windshield on his pick up & shattered it all to
pieces. Should have got it fixed yesterday. Ruth said he did. Mary called & they
are going to come in the motor home as they are afraid someone else will come
here.
Apr 14th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice today. Had good services & had
baptizing tonight 3 were baptized. Pretty day.
Apr 15th 2002 (Monday): Real pretty outside, sun is shining & I will do laundry.
Did laundry. Mowed half of lawn. Mower did real good & started right up.
Apr 16th 2002 (Tuesday): Went shopping this morn got home by 11 o’clock.
Cleaned out my fireplace & tried to mow but the mower wouldn’t start, not a
grunt, I guess I will have to get a new battery.
Apr 17th 2002 (Wednesday): Defrosted & cleaned my deep freeze this morn &
hope I can mow this afternoon. Rained last night. Got to clean my air
conditioner filter & then see if the air conditioner works. Gonna need it before
long.
Apr 18th 2002 (Thursday): Cleaned the air conditioner filter. Leah & Jenna
came by for tea & cookies. Jenna’s birthday is next week, 24th. My legs & back
is sure giving me a lot of trouble.
Apr 19th 2002 (Friday): Real cloudy this morn, probably will rain. My legs are
just about to give way on me. Can hardly walk & I have so much I want to do
before every one comes. Took Ruth to Magnolia.
Apr 20th 2002 (Saturday): A nice day, a little cloudy but warm. Sun shining most
of the time. Trimmed my bushes in front, they had a lot of dead limbs in them.
Apr 21st 2002 (Sunday): Went to Sunday school &church this morn. Bro. James
Lindsay is on vacation so Oris Lindsay preached this morn. I went to Dr. Grimet
tonight, didn’t go to church. He gave me shots in my knees & 1 shot in my arm of
antibiotics.
Apr 22nd 2002 (Monday): My knees don’t hurt at all this morn. He gave me a lot
of medication to take also. Got my laundry done. Feels so good that I can
straighten up & not hurt. My shot in the arm hurts tho.
Apr 23rd 2002 (Tuesday): My throat tries to clog up after I had took my medicine
last night. I put my vitamin C in my mouth to melt & it did not mix with the tablet I
had took. Just wants to clog my throat.
Apr 24th 2002 (Wednesday): This is Jenna’s birthday, but I won’t see her until
tomorrow, she is 6 years old today.
Apr 25th 2002 (Thursday): Leah & Jenna came by & I gave her birthday
presents & had tea & cookies.
Apr 26th 2002 (Friday): Rained nearly all day today & cold, really needed a fire
but I didn’t make one. My feet stayed cold all day.
Apr 27th 2002 (Saturday): Still cloudy this morn & cool. Hope it warms up a
little. Hope I can mow by Monday afternoon. Mary & Ham will be here
Wednesday.
Apr 28th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice today. Not many in church today.
Apr 29th 2002 (Monday): Did laundry. Looking for Mary & Ham Wednesday, &
looking for Ruth & Kay next Sunday. Went shopping this morn.
Apr 30th 2002 (Tuesday): Mowed this whole hill today, sure looks good. Warm
today.
May 1st 2002 (Wednesday): Well Mary & Ham got here about 4:30. I went to
town earlier & got gas.
May 2nd 2002 (Thursday): We visited each other a lot, I went out to the motor
home in the evening.
May 3rd 2002 (Friday): We went to town. I got Nikki a card to mail for her
birthday. Getting ready for the cemetery decoration.
May 4th 2002 (Saturday): We went to the cemetery decoration about 11am &
had a real good crowd there but it was cold. Saw a lot of relations.
May 5th 2002 (Sunday): I went to church this morn. Alice came down & we
played games. Nice to have the girls come in. Ruth & Kay got here 5pm.
May 6th 2002 (Monday): Mary, myself & Ruth & Kay all went to Chinese place &
ate dinner. We played Rummy Cube this afternoon.
May 7th 2002 (Tuesday): Ruth & Kay went home at about 10am. We got ready
to go to Samuel Madison’s funeral at 3pm at Camden. Saw all the people down
there.
May 8th 2002 (Wednesday): Mary & Ham got ready this morn to go home. I am
here all by myself again now. Will try to go to church tonight. Still a little cool but
the air conditioner has to run some.
May 9th 2002 (Thursday): Warm this morn & rain is in the forecast. I need to
mow again. Mary called about 4:30 yesterday, they had just got home. I went to
church last night.
May 10th 2002 (Friday): It has stormed all night & still raining here at 9am this
morn. Cool. Got all my mowing done out in front but didn’t get this up around
the house.
May 11th 2002 (Saturday): Still cloudy outside but not thundering & lightening.
Maybe the sun will come out today. Real cool.
May 12th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice. It’s been a beautiful day. We
have a preacher coming next Sunday for us to decide if we want him for our
pastor.
May 13th 2002 (Monday): Did my laundry. A beautiful day to start with, but it is
supposed to be a lot cooler tonight. We keep having cold fronts coming in but I
know it is going to get hot next month.
May 14th 2002 (Tuesday): I did my hand clipping outside beside the front walk &
around some of the trees yesterday. I am going shopping if it’s the Lord’s will.
Will try to get that done. Didn’t go, will go on Thursday.
May 15th 2002 (Wednesday): Went to the mailbox & mailed my telephone bill.
Pulled a lot of weeds by the garage. Will take Ruth to the foot doctor at Magnolia
tomorrow & do my shopping.
May 16th 2002 (Thursday): Went shopping, Ruth went with me & we sure had a
long day, I was just give out. Was so tired I could hardly move. She had to go to
2 doctors. My legs were almost past moving.
May 17th 2002 (Friday): I have to go back to Waldo & get gas for the lawn
mower. I did this today.
May 18th 2002 (Saturday): Mowed all the front lawn. The backyard don’t need it
yet.
May 19th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice & we called a new pastor tonight,
Bro. Tom Elliot. Sure hope we will like him & our church grow.
May 20th 2002 (Monday): Did laundry & cooked Lasagna for dinner. Didn’t do
much else.
May 21st 2002 (Tuesday): Sat around and worked puzzles all day. I am tired.
Ha.
May 22nd 2002 (Wednesday): Didn’t do much today. Used the clippers on grass
in front of garage & around front walk. Tried to burn this big limb that fell out of

May 23rd 2002 (Thursday): The weeks seem to fly by. Here it is almost June.
Leah & Jenna came by this afternoon for tea & cookies. Jenna is growing up so
fast & can write left-handed & she is smart.
May 24th 2002 (Friday): Beautiful day, still cool in the mornings. I need to get
out & go walking & bring in my garbage can.
May 25th 2002 (Saturday): Mailed my payment for taxes today. Next week I will
get my car license & driving license & Assess my taxes.
May 26th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice. Had a real good Sunday school
lesson today, had 5 in our class. Bro. Lindsay preached today & tonight but the
new preacher, Bro. Tom Elliot, they have already moved into the parsonage.
May 27th 2002 (Monday): Rained a little today. It is getting warmer. I know
summer is just around the corner.
May 28th 2002 (Tuesday): Went shopping this morn, left here at 8:30 got home
at 12 noon. I have to go to the revenue office & get new license & drivers license
this morn. Then to Wal-Mart for my medicine & to Krogers for groceries.
May 29th 2002 (Wednesday): Well it has sprinkled & rained nearly all day.
Hasn’t rained that much but just wet outside.
May 30th 2002 (Thursday): Leah came by for tea today. But she left Jenna
asleep at home. School is out for them. She will teach in Bible School next
week. Rained some today.
May 31st 2002 (Friday): Went to the mail box & mailed the card back to Michelle
as they are getting married July 20th or so they say, living in Nevada.
June 1st 2002 (Saturday): Warm today. My legs just don’t want to work but the
more I walk the better they are. Ruth left this morn to spend a month at her
sister’s house in Minnesota. Hope she enjoys her visit.
June 2nd 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice today. My legs sure do hurt me.
I can hardly walk. But the more I walk the better they get. Our new pastor
preached today. He is a pretty good preacher.
June 3rd 2002 (Monday): Did laundry. Mowed the yard around the house. Will
try to do my clipping tomorrow & burn this old big limb out there. Got nearly all
the limbs burned.
June 4th 2002 (Tuesday): Yes I burned the limbs but just some short ones will
be burned later. My old legs aren’t any better, just can’t hardly walk.
June 5th 2002 (Wednesday): A beautiful day so far. Did a lot of my clipping
grass with the clippers but am not through yet. I aim to go to church tonight, am
going to go by Travis’s as I go.
June 6th 2002 (Thursday): Well I went to church last night & Travis and all his
family & Leah’s are doing fine. I have got to mow the yard. Leah & Jenna came
by for tea.
June 7th 2002 (Friday): Well, I meant to go take exercises at church but forgot.
Beautiful day. Went walking around in the house but my legs are giving me fits.
June 8th 2002 (Saturday): Well, Ruth has been in Minnesota 1 week now. Sun
is shining bright this morn. I am aiming to go walking in a little bit. Sitting here
drinking my coffee after eating breakfast.
June 9th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church this morn, my knees & legs hurt so bad
I could hardly walk. Will try to go again tonight if it don’t start raining.
June 10th 2002 (Monday): Cloudy & rainy looking. Did laundry this morn. My
legs hurt me so bad I can hardly stand it. Got to make them work.
June 11th 2002 (Tuesday): Day to go to town. Hope my old legs will take me
where I want to go. Have to have my oil changed in the car. A lot to do in town
today. Got my oil changed – June 11-02. My legs did fine today.
June 12th 2002 (Wednesday): Really a nice day. Went walking early this morn
to the mailbox. Cooked dinner & feeling a lot better.
June 13th 2002 (Thursday): Alice came down yesterday evening & we really
played Rummy Cube for about 3 or 4 hours, had a good time. She showed me
some exercises but I can’t remember them. I will have to write them down next
time she comes. Real warm today, upper 80’s.
June 14th 2002 (Friday): Cooler today. Got all my mowing done yesterday & I
am so sore from riding that mower for so long a time. Really good breeze
blowing today.
June 15th 2002 (Saturday): Nice & cool this morn, but I know hot weather nearly
upon us. Went walking early this morn. My old legs are still contrary. Hurt so
bad sometimes.
June 16th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church & Sunday school this morn. Sure is
cool today, I got cold in church & its about 72 degrees, cool for June. Sprinkled
rain but not much.
June 17th 2002 (Monday): Did laundry today. A beautiful day but dry. Don’t
think I will have to mow this week.
June 18th 2002 (Tuesday): Just drug around here today, didn’t do much. Got
out my Fair puzzle & worked on that most of the day.
June 19th 2002 (Wednesday): Finished the puzzle over a 1000 pieces in it.
Went to Bible study tonight & to the grocery store for a head of lettuce.
June 20th 2002 (Thursday): Didn’t sleep good last night as my hips hurt. I
guess this arthritis has gone into my hips.
June 21st 2002 (Friday): Went to mailbox & got my tablecloth I had ordered.
The tablecloth is real pretty got tulips all over it. No rain in sight.
June 22nd 2002 (Saturday): Alice came down early this morn. Showed me all
the exercises she does. We played Rummy Cube all day. Bill came up for a little
while & played a couple of hands with us. Ruth will be back home next Saturday.
June 23rd 2002 (Sunday): This would have been Geralds (my brother) birthday
today. Beginning to get hot, air conditioner runs pretty often. Went to church
twice today. Leah & family & Travis & David left this morn for Utah. I saw Velma
at church tonight, she is staying in Travis’s trailer while they are gone. She has 2
of her grandchildren with her.
June 24th 2002 (Monday): Supposed to rain in spots today. Hope I can mow
some first.
June 25th 2002 (Tuesday): Well today is Ruth’s (Bills wife) birthday & she is in
Minnesota. Will be home Saturday. Mary called this morn, they are back home.
Went to Dr. Pullig today. He gave me a cortisone shot in the knee & it is better.
June 26th 2002 (Wednesday): I guess that shot went up into my shoulder
because this morn my shoulder hurt me so bad. I put Absorbine Jr. on it & finally
it got all right. Feels fine now & my knees & hip is fine. Can walk without a cane.
Will try to go to church tonight.
June 27th 2002 (Thursday): Real foggy again this morn but it is hot. Didn’t go to
church last night, was afraid my shoulder would act up, but I believe this morn it
is better. Will be glad when all the vacationers get back home.
June 28th 2002 (Friday): Cloudy this morn. I walked to the mailbox as usual &
put out ant poison all the way around the house. My legs are just no good, they
hurt all the time. Well Ruth should be home tomorrow & Leah, Travis and all of
them will be home this weekend.
June 29th 2002 (Saturday): I hurt all over this morn, just can’t get going. Ruth is
supposed to be home today. Velma came over an stayed awhile with me today.
She is baby sitting his trailer while he is gone.
June 30th 2002 (Sunday): Well this is the last day of June. They are having just
singing at church tonight & I am not going. Adam Turner is being baptized at our
church this afternoon. Ruth got home from Minnesota today.
July 1st 2002 (Monday): Well July has arrived at least 2 more months of hot
weather. It is really hot this morning already. Just went to the mailbox.
July 2nd 2002 (Tuesday): I am going to try to take Ruth to see her doctor this
morn we have to be there by 8 or 8:30 I don’t know which, so we have to leave
here early. May the Lord take care of us. & He did.
July 3rd 2002 (Wednesday): This the day before the 4th, won’t be any mail
tomorrow. Don’t know if Travis & Ray & Leah got home last night or not. Real
cloudy out but not rain. Bill is home today, probably tomorrow also.
July 4th 2002 (Thursday): A holiday no mail. Bill is real sick with upset stomach.
Travis and Leah & Ray all got home ok. Haven’t really talked to Travis yet. Alice
& Don are home, they want me to come up there but I just don’t feel like it.
July 5th 2002 (Friday): Another hot day but feels cool outside right now at 7:30.
I aim to go to town this morn sometime. Got to get bread & lettuce, maybe Bill
some Zantac for his stomach. Went to town & talked to Travis on the phone
finally. His phone was disconnected some way.
July 6th 2002 (Saturday): Fixed up my water bill & electric bill & got them mailed
this morn. You can really tell its July for it is hot & dry. I hope to mow some this
afternoon & then Monday.
July 7th 2002 (Sunday): Well I didn’t mow yesterday, was so hot 95 degrees.
Sure is dry & hot. Am going to try to go to church & Sunday school this morn. I
feel pretty good this morn so far. Went to church & Sunday school. Very few
there.
July 8th 2002 (Monday): Went walking to the mailbox, feels real cool. Sun is not
up. Will do my laundry. Got to change sheets on my bed. Bill went back to work
today.
July 9th 2002 (Tuesday): Today is my appointment at Dr. Pullig for a general
check up at 10:30am. Ruth said Bill was feeling good now. Alice was down
again yesterday & gave me a new big picture of her & Don. A real good picture.
Guess they will go out tomorrow or next day. So hot I dread going anywhere.
Doctor cancelled my appointment.
July 10th 2002 (Wednesday): My new appointment is the 23rd. Mowed half of
the front yard yesterday. Hope I can mow the other half today. Don’t know how
much longer I can do the mowing. My legs are so bad I can hardly walk. May
the Lord heal these old legs of mine. Yes, I did all the rest of the mowing after I
came home from church. Feels good to get it done & it is so dry it won’t need
mowing right away. Got gasoline at Waldo.
July 11th 2002 (Thursday): Moped & cleaned out under the air conditioner & the
grid of the air conditioner didn’t need cleaning it was clean. Got the whole house
moped on the tile.
July 12th 2002 (Friday): Well it rained late yesterday afternoon. A little cooler
this morn but I know it will get hot today. Leah & Jenna came over for tea
yesterday afternoon. They were here when it rained. Leah left for Canada this
morn with her student in French.
July 13th 2002 (Saturday): Well it thundered around last evening late but I don’t
think it rained any. I didn’t sleep good last night my legs hurts so bad I couldn’t
get comfortable. Got to get out & try walking to the mailbox.
July 14th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church this morn so many gave me birthday
presents I felt ashamed of myself. I can hardly get around. Went over to Travis’s
house this afternoon for a little while didn’t go to church tonight. I am getting so
frail. I asked Travis to get me a phone I could use to call someone if I fall out in
the yard.
July 15th 2002 (Monday): Nice & cool this morn & cloudy & foggy. Went to
mailbox & mailed my telephone bill. Haven’t heard from any of the kids except
Alice & Don went back on the road last week.
July 16th 2002 (Tuesday): Ruth decided to go with me next Tuesday for her eye
checkup. Sure hot today. Mailed Tammy a letter today.
July 17th 2002 (Wednesday): Rainy outside & real cloudy nice day not so hot.
July 18th 2002 (Thursday): Well the garbage man should have run today. Mary
called & we talked quite a bit about what I am going to do in this old age of mine.
July 19th 2002 (Friday): Still hot. Travis & David came over for a few minutes
this afternoon.
July 20th 2002 (Saturday): Didn’t do much today, it is so hot over 100 degrees.
July 21st 2002 (Sunday): Went to church this morn, then went back at 2pm to a
baby shower for the tiny baby Jackson. Then I went out to Travis’s from 3:30 to
5:30 then back to church for night service.
July 22nd 2002 (Monday): Sure is hot. Doing my laundry & walked outside
picked up burs on my way walking.
July 23rd 2002 (Tuesday): Ruth went with me to town today. She went to her
eye doctor & I went to see Dr. Pullig. He prescribed a whole bunch of stuff for
me. Even a mammogram. All kinds of expensive medicine. Some I can’t take.
July 24th 2002 (Wednesday): Got to mow my yard. Got the yard up around the
house, mowed yesterday evening. Mowed all the north side of driveway this
morn as it was cloudy. Then it cloudied up all over this afternoon so I finished
the mowing. Sure feels good to have it done.
July 25th 2002 (Thursday): Sit around here & moped all day. Went to sleep on
the living room couch & woke up at 10pm & went to bed.
July 26th 2002 (Friday): Finally got out & got that brick out of the yard where I
kept hitting it with the mower. Cut a few bushes. A real nice morning but a hot
evening.
July 27th 2002 (Saturday): Real cloudy this morn went walking to the mailbox.
Cloudy till about 12 o’clock then sunny & hot.
July 28th 2002 (Sunday): Went to Sunday school & church this morn. A little
cooler today a good breeze. Waldo got a good rain yesterday but we never got
any. Will try to go to church again tonight.
July 29th 2002 (Monday): Today is Sybil Wistrand’s birthday & I am going with
Melba Jean over to the nursing home in Stamps to visit her. Cloudy this morn so
it is not so hot yet.
July 30th 2002 (Tuesday): My Birthday – 84 today and that is getting old. It’s
terrible to get old & decrepit. Can’t do so many things. Nancy; Lamar & Mary &
Mary Holstein all called this morn. And today is Leah’s birthday too. She is 46
today. Got cards from everyone. Ruth & Bill got me 2 new aprons & a hot pad.
July 31st 2002 (Wednesday): Well today is the last day of July but August will be
hot too. Leah is supposed to come over this afternoon her & Jenna. Will try to
go to church tonight & get gasoline for car & lawn mower.
Aug 1st 2002 (Thursday): Feel pretty good this morn, went to the mailbox before
sun up. Going to be hot. I sit on the front porch for awhile. Nice & cool out there
early morn.
Aug 2nd 2002 (Friday): It’s going to be another hot day. But we have September
to look forward to. Went walking early before sun up. Nice & cool outside for
now. Looking for Alice in next week. Leah & Jenna were here yesterday for tea
& cookies. They got me a pink hat.
Aug 3rd 2002 (Saturday): Still hot. I called the lady over close to Bethel that has
the Alert System with the Ambulance Service so I am going to get that. It’s a
button you keep on yourself to push if you fall or something & the ambulance will
be right out. Sure am glad I can get that. It cost $35 a month but it will be worth
it.
Aug 4th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church & Sunday school this morn. Had 7 in
our class. Tammy came down for a visit this afternoon. Sure enjoyed her visit.
Still hot and dry.
Aug 5th 2002 (Monday): Went walking early got a birthday card from Exie.
Gonna do laundry this morn. Got that all done.
Aug 6th 2002 (Tuesday): Going to town today to get groceries & a few things at
Wal-Mart. I am feeling much stronger this morn but will still take my walking
stick. Hope I don’t lose it at Wal-Mart & I didn’t.
Aug 7th 2002 (Wednesday): 82 degrees outside, that is cooler than usual & it is
2pm. I intend to go to church tonight if possible. No rain in sight. I need to mow
in front of garage. So many jump up grass.
Aug 8th 2002 (Thursday): Well it is a little cooler, I went walking early & it was
real cool. Leah & Jenna will come over this afternoon & have tea. I got this alert
system from the Ambulance Company, got me all hooked up with a button
around my neck to push if I need somebody. She came out Tuesday.
Aug 9th 2002 (Friday): Well I am fixing to go walking to the mailbox & mail a
letter. Leah & Jenna didn’t come over last evening so I don’t know if they will
today. School starts week after next.
Aug 10th 2002 (Saturday): Been a long day sure will be glad for cooler weather.
Ruth went to the Watermelon Festival at Hope today with Gary.
Aug 11th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church this morn got 3 new members by letter.
Had a pretty fair crowd as usual. No so hot today as it is cloudy. Went to church
tonight.
Aug 12th 2002 (Monday): Well it’s Monday, did laundry & it is still hot, it is said
we will get rain by Wednesday. Hope so.
Aug 13th 2002 (Tuesday): Well it is cloudy today & not as hot. Painted my
address on the left side of mailbox. Made a mess of it but maybe you can tell
what it is.
Aug 14th 2002 (Wednesday): Well it is raining ever so slow, but looks like we
might get a good watering. Real cool outside, went walking & had my umbrella
and it is raining off & on.
Aug 15th 2002 (Thursday): Only sprinkled rain yesterday. Maybe today it will
rain. I have to take Ruth to the foot doctor today. Bill came home early so he
took Ruth to doctor. Really am glad.
Aug 16th 2002 (Friday): Didn’t do hardly anything today, just lazy. Leah’s school
starts next Monday of next week. Got another month of hot weather.
Aug 17th 2002 (Saturday): Done my moping this morn. Bill came up for a few
minutes. Ruth is in Little Rock with Mary Hines. Mary called & they had had lots
of rain & none here. They were doing ok.

willing. Fair today & hot. Had a good crowd in church today.
Aug 19th 2002 (Monday): Travis & David came by & picked me up & we went to
Magnolia. Travis got me a disabled license for my car. So now I can park in
disabled places.
Aug 20th 2002 (Tuesday): Went to town shopping today, got groceries & to WalMart got home by 10:30 in the morn. Nice.
Aug 21st 2002 (Wednesday): Didn’t do much today. They got Ruth's tree cut
down & finally got it cleaned up.

have company & school has started too. I know they are busy.

Aug 31st 2002 (Saturday): Well; this is the last day of August. Sure was a long
hot month as usual. Dusted today & was aiming to wash the tires on my car but
didn’t do it. I tried to call Mr. Graham to come fix my drippy faucet, but no
answer.
Sept 1st 2002 (Sunday): Went to church this morn & will try to go again tonight.
A real pretty day, kinda warm. I did go tonight a slim bunch at church.
Sept 2nd 2002 (Monday): Mr. Graham is supposed to come down to fix my leaky
faucet at the kitchen sink. Bill is bush hogging out in front sure, does need it.
Sept 3rd 2002 (Tuesday): Mr. Graham came & fixed the faucet. I have to make
a enchilada casserole for to take to the college today. Then I will go do my
shopping the Lord willing.
Sept 4th 2002 (Wednesday): I took my casserole to the church & it was a day
early, supposed to have been today. O Well, I put it in the fridge & they can just
heat it up. Did my shopping yesterday. Still hot. Mowed this afternoon all of
north side, drive & backyard.
Sept 5th 2002 (Thursday): Went walking early & pulled a lot of jump up grass the
mower missed. Orris Lindsay’s daughter came out to see me today. I don’t
know how she knew the way.
Sept 6th 2002 (Friday): Our Wedding Anniversary today. Would have been 66
years today if Arvie was living. Still hot, 96 degrees again today is forecast.
Hope I can finish my mowing this afternoon.
Sept 7th 2002 (Saturday): Mary called yesterday & said they would probably
come sometime in October unless it starts raining a lot. Still hot today but
cloudy.
Sept 8th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church this morn. Had a service on patriotism
because of Sept 11th. Had a pretty large crowd. More than usual.
Sept 9th 2002 (Monday): Got rain don’t know how much just a good shower.
Went to church last night.
Sept 10th 2002 (Tuesday): Alice came down today. She fixed the 2 tiles that
was out in the bath. We played Rummy Cube a lot fixed & ate dinner, had
homemade soup & greens & potatoes.
Sept 11th 2002 (Wednesday): A little cooler this morn as I went walking. Made a
pecan pie & took it to church as Mrs. Barr died & her funeral is tomorrow.
Sept 12th 2002 (Thursday): Still warm but supposed to be cooler by next week.
Sure hope so. Alice & Don brought down firewood that John had left at their rent
house. As they are selling the house.
Sept 13th 2002 (Friday): Well it is still warm outside but supposed to be cooler in
a few days. A cold front is on the way. Went walking.
Sept 14th 2002 (Saturday): Went walking. Cooler this morn. Sent 4 pounds of
sugar to the pounding the couple that got married Ellen Flaherty, husband & I
don’t remember the woman that her husband was dead.

today. Will try to go to church tonight. Supposed to have rained but it didn’t.

Alice & Don brought John’s wood he had up at their house. So I have a pretty
good stack of wood.

Sept 18th 2002 (Wednesday): Went to church tonight & meant to get gas but I
didn’t.
Sept 19th 2002 (Thursday): Rained a drizzle nearly all day & night. Had puddles
out in the drive this morn.
Sept 20th 2002 (Friday): Turning cooler today down in the upper 60’s. Nice
outside.
Sept 21st 2002 (Saturday): Steve came in last night. He spent the night here.
He came to take Sandy to court over the children. He goes to court Monday. He
flew to Dallas & rented a car & came here.
Sept 22nd 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice today. Stopped in Waldo & got
gas for car. Cooler today & supposed to be cooler tomorrow.
Sept 23rd 2002 (Monday): Did laundry today & real cool, had to have on a
sweater to go walking 57 degrees. Sure feels good.
Sept 24th 2002 (Tuesday): Went to see Orris Lindsay’s daughter & saw Orris &
his daughters husband. I don’t even know her name. I must find out. Came
home about 11am went at 9am. They have a beautiful place.
Sept 25th 2002 (Wednesday): I raked leaves here in the back & burned them
with straw mixed in. They sure burned good. So dry.
Sept 26th 2002 (Thursday): Well it is still windy & a hurricane down on the
Louisiana coast. It’s headed northeast I think it will miss us & barely miss Mary &
Ham. They may get rain from it.
Sept 27th 2002 (Friday): Burned my brush & leaves where I trimmed the bushes
out on the terrace.
Sept 28th 2002 (Saturday): Didn’t do much today tried to rain but didn’t.
Sept 29th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church twice today, Bro. Cherry & family is
holding our revival had a good crowd. Velma came home with me after tonights
church. She spent the night & went home close to noon Monday.
Sept 30th 2002 (Monday): Velma left about 11am this morn. Did laundry.
Oct 1st 2002 (Tuesday): Had to run another load of clothes this morn as I didn’t
empty the hamper. Am going shopping today.
Oct 2nd 2002 (Wednesday): Yes I went shopping yesterday & was so tired the
rest of the day, but I went to the revival again tonight, has a real good service &
had the church full. A lot of people & a lot of interest taken.
Oct 3rd 2002 (Thursday): Resting today. I feel rung out. May the Lord revive
me. Real cloudy this morn & a hurricane is coming up from the south. Hope to
mow before it starts to rain.
Oct 4th 2002 (Friday): It rained a little tiny bit. But the grass is wet & hope to
mow by 12:30 maybe. Leah & Jenna are coming over this afternoon so I can
only mow until 3:15. Sun is shining today & still warm.

Oct 10th 2002 (Thursday): Cooler this morn & we got rain overnight. Alice came
down yesterday evening & we played Rummy Cube. She is supposed to have
my medicine refilled. She gave me a puzzle but the pieces are so little a round
puzzle.
Oct 11th 2002 (Friday): Not quite as cool as yesterday. Still cloudy tho. Got to
start cleaning for Mary & Ham & Ruth & Kay they will be here the 20th of this
month. Got a lot of shopping to do.
Oct 12th 2002 (Saturday): I was so foggy this morn. Mary called & she hasn’t
heard from Ruth or Kay I don’t know if they are coming or not. She said they are

Oct 13th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church & Sunday school. But I didn’t go
tonight as it gets dark before I get to come home & I don’t like to drive at night.
Oct 14th 2002 (Monday): Did laundry. Called Ruth Dixon & they are not coming
this next weekend in fact she didn’t know anything about coming.
Oct 15th 2002 (Tuesday): I am going to try to go to town today & get groceries.
Mary & Ham will be here Sunday.
Oct 16th 2002 (Wednesday): Went to town yesterday. I am going to try to
sweep up my leaves here at the back door, and try to rake around the (turn
around tree) in front this afternoon. Got that raked & burned the leaves.
Oct 17th 2002 (Thursday): Did the raking around the tree but haven’t picked up
the straw on the east side.
Oct 18th 2002 (Friday): Finished raking around the tree but still haven’t picked
up straw as
Oct 19th 2002 (Saturday): raining today all day. Did my vacuuming today.
Talked to Mary this morn & they will be here Sunday sometime. Rained so I
can’t pick up my piles of straw.
Oct 20th 2002 (Sunday): Well it is 1:00 o’clock & I imagine Mary & Ham are at
least half way here. Sure was foggy early this morn & still is to some extent.
Warm for the last of October. They got here around 5pm ok.
Oct 21st 2002 (Monday): We went up to Tammy’s this afternoon. John was
home doing some work on the house. All were doing fine. Mary & Ham liked
their house.
Oct 22nd 2002 (Tuesday): Yesterday we came back through Hope & went to the
puzzle factory & bought 2 puzzles & Mary bought 2.
Oct 23rd 2002 (Wednesday): Went over to Travis’s place in the afternoon. He &
David was home.
Oct 24th 2002 (Thursday): Went riding around nearly to Hope & back down to
Buckner & then around to the lake but not the place we always went.
Oct 25th 2002 (Friday): We went driving around. Ham wanted to look around.
Tried to find Lake Columbia, but I didn’t know the way going in by Mt. Vernon.
Oct 26th 2002 (Saturday): Ham went with Bill to get his truck he bought. Mary &
I had good visits, played Rummy Cube & enjoyed Leah & Jenna this afternoon.
Oct 27th 2002 (Sunday): Mary & Ham left here about 8:30am. Sprinkling rain
then & has all day & still raining. Went to church they had their 50 th Anniversary
of the organization of the church today. Had a big crowd.
Oct 28th 2002 (Monday): Doing laundry. Mary called yesterday evening they
had just made it home. Still rainy in the 50’s this morn.
Oct 29th 2002 (Tuesday): I intend to go to town this morn 60 degrees outside.
Hope it don’t rain on me all the way. I have a lot to do.
Oct 30th 2002 (Wednesday): Bought groceries yesterday & went to Wal-Mart,
got medicine. Had a good day not much rain. 60 degrees today. Still don’t need
a fire.
Oct 31st 2002 (Thursday): (Halloween) 50 degrees this morn but I lit a fire for
the first time this fall. Looking for trick or treaters tonight. Just had one, Jenna.
Nov 1st 2002 (Friday): Cooler today, I have a fire going in the fireplace & it feels
good. Cloudy and dreary outside. Raked all my leaves here next to kitchen &
they are all gone until next year.
Nov 2nd 2002 (Saturday): Bill came up & put wood on the porch, 45 degrees this
morn & the fire sure feels good. Haven’t heard anything from Alice in the last
week. I look for them home anytime.
Nov 3rd 2002 (Sunday): Cold this morn – got a good fire going. Got to get ready
for church in a little bit. 46 degrees this morn.
Nov 4th 2002 (Monday): Got to do laundry. Alice & Don came down for awhile
last night. We played Rummy Cube. Still cloudy & looks like rain. 48 degrees
this morn. Still got a fire going.
Nov 5th 2002 (Tuesday): Election Day – Went to town today & to the Doctors
office. Got my flu shots & Krewmom’s shots. Glad to get that done. Alice
brought down a whole truckload of greens for me to cook. I threw most of them
away but will try to wash & cook part of them.
Nov 6th 2002 (Wednesday): Alice came down last night & we played Rummy
Cube till nearly nine o’clock. Sun is shining this morn & pretty chilly outside 40
degrees. Got my fire going again this morn & feels good.
Nov 7th 2002 (Thursday): Cold again this morn 38 degrees. Got a good fire &
brought in plenty firewood for tonight. Sun is shining so pretty & warm.
Nov 8th 2002 (Friday): 40 degrees this morn & sun shining. Lamar called last
night & he is supposed to be here today don’t know what time. Mailed my
electric bill today.
Nov 9th 2002 (Saturday): Lamar & Pat was here yesterday all day & Alice & Don
came down. I fixed dinner for all. Lamar & Pat will be back today.
Nov 10th 2002 (Sunday): Went to Sunday school, but we didn’t have church.
We fired the preacher he talked down to everyone last Sunday. Don’t know what
we will do for a preacher, maybe Bro. Lindsay will come back.
Nov 11th 2002 (Monday): Doing laundry. Called Mary as they had tornadoes
over there but she said it all missed them except the rain they had downpours of
rain & still raining this morn. (Our pastor resigned)
Nov 12th 2002 (Tuesday): Called Nancy yesterday too. She is not going to have
surgery this year, maybe next. Cooler today in the 40’s this morn. Sun has
shined nearly all day.
Nov 13th 2002 (Wednesday): Cold this morn 36 degrees. Big frost. Got a good
fire going. Will go walking about 11. Sun is shining. No news.
Nov 14th 2002 (Thursday): Warmer this morn 45 degrees. No frost. The sun
comes up in the south. I have never noticed how far south it is this time of year.
Nov 15th 2002 (Friday): Real cloudy this morn but temperature in the 50’s, looks
like rain, but the forecast does not say so. My yard is a disaster area. I had it so
nice & clean. Now it’s covered with leaves.
Nov 16th 2002 (Saturday): Cool this morn 46 degrees, but fair & sunny.
Supposed to freeze tonight. I am getting in wood by myself pretty good. I didn’t
think I could.
Nov 17th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church this morn 31 degrees. Bro. Oris
Lindsay preached. Sun is shining & warmed up by noon.
Nov 18th 2002 (Monday): Sun is shining this morn & 50 degrees. Doing laundry
changed my bed from summer to winter. Put on the electric blanket. All ready
for cold weather but not electric outage.
Nov 19th 2002 (Tuesday): Didn’t do much today, rested. Trying to rain outside
sprinkling pretty good.
Nov 20th 2002 (Wednesday): Raked a little in the south of the house & burned
them leaves.
Nov 21st 2002 (Thursday): Worked on this poster for church for Lottie Moon
Christmas Offering.
Nov 22nd 2002 (Friday): Got the poster looking better & ready to take to church.
Nov 23rd 2002 (Saturday): Didn’t do much today. Went to the mailbox & pittled
around here.
Nov 24th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church. Bro. Creech preached today as Orris
is in the hospital.
Nov 25th 2002 (Monday): Did laundry & cleaned house.
Nov 26th & 27th (Tuesday & Wednesday): Got behind with writing this, will go
with Travis & David to Camden tomorrow.
Nov 28th 2002 (Thursday): Thanksgiving Day. Fixed pea salad & a chocolate
pie. Was a big crowd down there & lots of good food. 3 big turkeys & they were
tender & good. Enjoyed the day.
Nov. 29th 2002 (Friday): Cold this morn 36 degrees when I got up. I want to do
some sweeping in the yard this afternoon.
Nov 30th 2002 (Saturday): Last day of November. Windy but warm outside, I
swept nearly all of back yard. 50 degrees outside.
Dec 1st 2002 (Sunday): Went to church. We called Bro. James Lindsay to be
our pastor & he said yes.
Dec 2nd 2002 (Monday): Went shopping today instead of tomorrow, as it is
supposed to rain all day tomorrow, got back home by 12:00 o’clock. Got me a
new teakettle as I burned the other one up.
Dec 3rd 2002 (Tuesday): Well it sure looks like rain this morn & turning much
colder. Went out & got more wood on the porch. Wind is right out of the north.

Dec 4th 2002 (Wednesday): Alice & Don came by & picked me up & we went to
Chinese restaurant & ate dinner. Sure good. Finally got my laundry done.
Dec 5th 2002 (Thursday): 37 degrees this morn & cloudy, but not raining. Went
with Alice & Don to eat at Chinese place yesterday.
Dec 6th 2002 (Friday): Cold this morn, 27 degrees. The sun is coming up
shining pretty & will warm up some. Need to mop but will wait till it warms up a
lot more.
Dec 7th 2002 (Saturday): Cold this morn, but up to 55 degrees by noon. Walked
to the mailbox. I have really burned a lot of wood already this winter.
Dec 8th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church this morn. Was cold & no sun shining.
Dec 9th 2002 (Monday): Did laundry. Made my pea salad for the salad luncheon
tomorrow at Betty Browns.
Dec 10th 2002 (Tuesday): Going to Betty Browns today at noon for dinner. Went
& I think all the women of the church was there. We all enjoyed a lovely dinner &
a good time. I had to bring home Linda Brown as her car is not running.
Dec 11th 2002 (Wednesday): Sure had a good time yesterday. Leah & Jenna
were here this afternoon as Leah is going to Patrick’s graduation tomorrow. He
graduates for teaching.
Dec 12th 2002 (Thursday): Doing as little as I can get by with today as I am
tired. Got in wood early for I thought it was going to rain but it hasn’t.
Dec 13th 2002 (Friday): Seems like all I do is get in wood. Not real cold just cold
enough for a fire. Bill don’t have any work, maybe it will pick up after first of year.
Dec 14th 2002 (Saturday): 40 degrees this morn & the sun is shining. So nice to
see the sun. I got lots of shopping to do next Tuesday.
Dec 15th 2002 (Sunday): Went to church this morn. Sun shining so nice. Our
crowd is slim. Wish I could go at night but I am just not going to drive at night.
Dec 16th 2002 (Monday): Old Monday. Did laundry & kept a fire going in the
40’s this morn & cloudy. Alice called & they will be home next week for
Christmas.
Dec 17th 2002 (Tuesday): I am aiming to go shopping, if God is with me. I pray
everything will be ok. Warm this morn 69 degrees at 7am.
Dec 18th 2002 (Wednesday): Had tornadoes close by today & tonight. Got a
good rain. No damage here.
Dec 19th 2002 (Thursday): Rained again today but no tornadoes. Leah & Jenna
came by for tea & cookies.
Dec 20th 2002 (Friday): Fair & sun shining so pretty. From 40 degrees to 70
degrees today. Cold enough to have a fire.
Dec 21st 2002 (Saturday): Still fair & sunny. Not cold just cool enough for a fire
to feel good about 65 degrees.
Dec 22nd 2002 (Sunday): Went to church this morn. We got about $400 for
Lottie Moon offering. Thank you Lord.
Dec 23rd 2002 (Monday): Cooked cornbread for dressing & made 2 chocolate
pies to take to Leah’s tomorrow night. Made fruit salad we should have a good
supper tomorrow.
Dec 24th 2002 (Tuesday): Christmas Eve. Went over to Leah & Ray’s for supper
& exchanged gifts. Leah got me a good puzzle. Had a house full over there. All
had a big time. Bill & Ruth went with me.
Dec 25th 2002 (Wednesday): Christmas Day. Cold this morn. Alice & Don &
Ruth & Bill were all here for dinner. Had chicken & dressing & everything with it
& turnip greens, sweet potatoes & other potatoes. Everyone had a good dinner.
Alice & Ruth overdone themselves for me is gifts.
Dec 26th 2002 (Thursday): Had all the leftovers to eat. Nice not to have to cook.
Dec 27th 2002 (Friday): Hard to keep track of the days. Here by myself all day.
Alice & Don had to go back on the road.
Dec 28th 2002 (Saturday): Did as little as I could today. Sun is shining, real
pretty day.
Dec 29th 2002 (Sunday): Another beautiful day. Went to Sunday school &
church. We got over $750 for missions.
Dec 30th 2002 (Monday): Did laundry. Still warm don’t need a fire. Supposed to
rain.
Dec 31st 2002 (Tuesday): It stormed all night last night, but I am going to try to
go to town today. It is still 46 degrees. I didn’t light a fire yet.
