Description: Provide a statement of 500 words or less describing the proposed project in language understandable to the
non-specialist. What is your title? The idea you are developing? The content you are creating? The story you are telling?
What work have you already done (research, pre-production, post-production)? What do you expect to have in hand by the
time the Institute begins? NOTE: The MDOCS Summer Institute review committee includes faculty and documentarians from
different disciplines. It is your responsibility to provide a description of your project and your objectives that is easily
understood by someone outside your area of expertise.

Goals, proposed activities, and format of final outcome expected: Provide information as to what you intend to
accomplish during the Institute and the format of the expected final outcome; e.g., film, audio documentary, multi-media
event, conference presentation, exhibit, website, performance, etc. Indicate what stage you are at in your project, which
documentary method(s) you are working with, and what you would like to accomplish in 5 weeks. Please be as specific as
possible (NOT: “I will finish a film” is not useful, BUT “I will prepare a script, edit 15 hours of footage and conduct 3 hours of
interviews.”)

on the project. Do you have your own equipment? What MDOCS, Media Services or other campus equipment would it be

PLEASE NOTE:
A FINAL REPORT must be submitted to the Director of MDOCS by August 1 immediately following the summer the Institute
Participation occurred. Faculty and student members must submit one report for each award.
Failure to file a final report may result in advances being treated as taxable income and will disqualify participants from future
grant opportunities.
The Final Report, submitted online, will consist of a written summary and a brief description of expenditures.
