Presentation of document C80216n-10_0061r1.doc, Proposed Overall Network Architecture for IEEE 802.16n from ETRI and Samsung Electronics. Discussion about specifying topology: Does the SRD allow mesh operation? 16m does not specify tree or mesh in the SDD. The group decides to remove the three sentences regarding “Topology” in the sub-bullets. Further discussion on editing: Amend first sub-bullet text to read: “An HR-MS may connect to an HR-BS either directly, via an HR-RS, or via a forwarding HR-MS. At least two hops between an HR-BS and an HR-MS may be supported when the HR-MS is connected to an HR-BS via the HR-RS.” Discussion about two hops vs. at least two hops. Further discussion on whether 16n specifies a particular topology – tree or mesh. Backward compatibility with 16j and 16m specifies tree. 16d supports mesh, but 16e did not update it. If we want to specifically include mesh, it needs to be specified explicitly in SRD. 80216gman-10-0044 Conclusion is that adding mesh would require a contribution and motion to change SRD. Anyone who would like to see explicit requirements regarding 16n mesh operation added to the SRD can bring contributions to the next session. Amendments and editing to contribution C80216n-10_0061r1.doc are agreed by all participants. C80216n-10_0061r1.doc will be updated to C80216n-10_0061r2.doc and uploaded. Next teleconference 7-December-2010. Contributions for the teleconference are requested to be uploaded by 6-December-2010. Topics for 7-December: Definitions of R1 interface ((Not discussing backward compatibility modes)), Definition of relation between capability and role.
