Numbering Alignment Process
• Update from all published standards. Posted as 1108/644r19 (11/1/2010) By Bill Marshall
• TGz D12 started a new update cycle. 11v D16, 11u D13,
numbering needs to be completed. 11s D8 is the next,
then 11ae, 11af, 11aa, 11ad, 11ac, 11ah.
• Create a working group MEC that includes numbering
and ANA before going to Sponsor Ballot
• We use more columns for the two baselines.

Joint Meeting with 802.1AVB
• Overview of changes to 802.11 to support 802.1Qat
• Discussion on future 802.1AVB topics
– Having an 802.11 BSS act like first class 802.1Q bridges (so they can
participate in the dynamic reconfiguration and management protocols)
• How to deal with the STA-Bridge issue?
– QoS Maintenance Reports
• Specific details on 802.11k/v traffic stream statistic reports
– Making sure 802.11 APs and STAs know the difference between
"multicast" and "group address" as conditions for routing action ... so that
a stream that has a DA with the "I/G" bit set does NOT necessarily result
in a broadcast transmission (with all the attendant wastage of bandwidth).
• Overview of 802.11aa MRG (now known as GCR)
• MaxRes for 802.11

Work Completed
• China WPAN mmWave Liaison, 10/1332r0, Liang Li
– China WPAN is investigating mm-WAVE standard solution for frequency
range at around 50 GHz
– Group discussion on two possible solutions
• 1) China WPAN borrows material from 802.11ad and modifies for 50 GHz
– Issue: requires copyright permission
• 2) TGad modifies PAR to include 45-50 GHz and modified draft, allowing
China WPAN to directly use 802.11ad
–
–
–
–
Modify PAR to add 45-50GHz in China
Modify Annex J keeping same channel spacing (2160MHz)
Modify a few definitions
Strawpoll on this approach: 37/0/5
– TG chair will investigate both approaches (e.g. PAR modification and
copyright permission)
