Topic: Motivational Interviewing in Oral Health

Target Audience: Dentists, Dental Hygienists, Dental Assistants, and nurses
Objectives: Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative form of communication
designed to motivate behavior change. This session will help learners:
 Discuss how Motivational Interviewing techniques can help us to re-frame
our communication
 Gain knowledge of communication strategies to encourage behavior change

Continuing Education:
Dental Professionals: Participants who attend the entire session and complete
an evaluation online will receive a certificate for 1.0 contact hours.
This program is accredited by the Michigan Center for Rural Health (MCRH).
MCRH is an approved Board of Dentistry (MBOD) Provider Program –
# 299150014.This approval is valid from April 2015 through November 2018.
Nurses- Participants who attend the entire session and complete an
evaluation form will receive a certificate for 1.0 contact hours.
Michigan State University College of Nursing (OH-294, 08/01/18) is an approved
provider of continuing nursing education by the Ohio Nurses Association (OBN001-91), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s
Commission on Accreditation.

e-mail upon successfully filling out and returning the
attendance form and completing the evaluation form online.

Required Forms –Everyone is required to fill out an
attendance form and an evaluation which is found online.

Cost: There is no cost to participate in the webinar
presentation.
Technology requirements: This presentation will be conducted via
webinar. You can listen to the program via your telephone and followalong watching the PowerPoint on your individual computer.
If you are not able to access a computer during the presentation, you
may still participate by listening to the program.
Participation in the program is on a first- come, first-serve
basis.
