Prothese Disability Economic Empowerement Project Services (Nigeria) Contribution to OHCHR study on Measures for Ratification and Implementation of UNCRPD The following measures will enhance ratification, implementation and monitoring of the Convention: 1. Spreading knowledge among PwDs, their DPOs, general public, National, State/Provincial and Local/county government officials 2. Training Personnel to facilitate implementation 3. Translating the text of the Convention to various languages, English, French, Spanish and various local languages (in Nigeria: Yoruba, hausa and igbo) 4. An International Fact finding Commission should be set up 5. Appointing and training of DPOs, Journalist, Lawyers etc. should be done to form a Local monitoring committee of UNCRPD 6. Three should be maximum media and diplomatic pressure for nations to act 7. PwDs should be properly identified and protected by law 8. The UN should design statutory provisions to ensure compliance. For example the National Human Rights Commission was established in 1995 in line with a resolution of the UN General Assembly. A resolution like that should be made 9. The Un should make available simplified copies of the Convention 10. Workshop should be organized nationally to create awareness about the Convention.
