Directorate of Taxes Norway refers to your letter of October 10, 2013. The
answers are as follows:
1. The right to birth registration is indicated by Sections 1 and 3 of the National
Registration Act of 16 January 1970 and the provisions in the regulations of 9
November 2007 Section 3-1.

3. The National Population Register of Norway is responsible and is in charge of
registering births, deaths and marriages. The mechanism of registration is based
on statements. 1. Births - from the hospital, 2. Deaths - from the local court, 3.
Marriages - from the registrar/church. On a child's birth certificate the names of
the registered mother and father are included.

5. These rights are attached to persons being residents of Norway - i.e. meet the
requirement of being registered in the National Population Register
