Parent Partners for Learning I would like to encourage you to be a volunteer in our classroom. I appreciate the importance of working in partnership with parents and value your support. I have an open door policy and invite you to join us. There are many interesting and important jobs that need to be done and I will be happy to train you in any area needed. Please fill out this form and return it by Friday, September 10th if you would like me to schedule you as a classroom volunteer. If you are unable to volunteer on a regular basis, there will be opportunities to volunteer for field trips. Pull a small group of students. Work on math fact flash cards (multiplication/division) Record date and which facts student struggled with. Continued on next page… □ Art Docent (preferably Wednesdays or Fridays) Give a short lesson on a piece of art work or artist Facilitate art project based on art or artist (doesn’t have to be a recreation) OR if you are a crafter, painter, quilter, potter, knitter, gardener we’d love to have you share your passion with us! This can be one time or ongoing. □ Spelling/priority word mentor Pull one student at a time. Read them words from their priority word list. Record date and words misspelled. □ Friday folders (Friday afternoon) Arrive to class after lunch File student work and school announcements in each student’s Friday folder Retrieve any last minute notices from teacher’s box and file. Load folders by 2:45 Set up a cool bribery system to get students to return their folder! □ Copies and crafts Check “Copies” file of parent volunteer box. Make copies and return to teacher. Check “Crafts” file of volunteer box. Put up artwork in the hall. Create fun thematic showcases for hall work. Wow! This is quite a list…it really does “take a village!” You can see how important volunteers are in our classroom. Don’t be shy, we love sharing our learning with you! Please come and join us.
