Novel – Hot Zone
Last class you responded to the following quote:
Author Richard Preston writes, “When you begin probing into the
origins of AIDS and Marburg, the light fails and things go dark, but
you sense hidden connections. Both viruses seem to be part of a
pattern” (45).
Using your understanding of the reading, who or what does Preston
suggest may be responsible for the spread of deadly viral diseases? Do
you agree with his theory? Why or why not?
How could you have strengthened your response?
Hot Zone
Respond to the following:
Among the ethical issues raised by Richard Preston is who should
be allowed to work with lethal contagions, like Ebola.
Do you think married women of child-bearing age should be
allowed to work with Level 4 contagions? In a well-developed
paragraph, state your position clearly. Then, support your
position with at least two logical reasons.
