Meeting Feedback
Questions?
o Has there been any study on why so many open enroll at certain schools. Is it due to
any specific program or school ratings?
o Were past enrollment numbers looked at to see if these trends in enrollment are
constant?
o How feasible is the idea that transportation can go to daycare providers and deliver
students to their home schools?
o What about choice options?
o What are the reasons people are open enrolling? Can’t wait to see these answers.
Comments/Thoughts
o Getting a handle on open enrollment
o The 9-12 transition needs to be addressed!
o Open enrollment is driving most of the issues
o Sunnyslope needs to be addressed ASAP. Waiting will not work in that building.
o Another good session- appreciate time to discuss each option.
o More information is needed on open enrollment – any boundary changes will be
redundant if it stays the same.
o The third option seems the best. Some parents won’t like it but it is needed for our
children to get the best education.
o I don’t think we can close open enrollment and begin special programs at different
schools. The two are not compatible.
o Excellent evening of information. Was thinking that there should already be plans
ready to look at. Great to see them and the questions they raise.
Suggestions
o Consideration and possibly use of transportation to daycare facilities (as a regular
stop)
o Work with and perhaps encourage the expansion of the Boys and Girls Club
programs
o Look at changing open enrollment to be modelled after a style that allows the district
to elect the school an open student attends

o Why can’t the new kids go somewhere else or build a new school?
Comments:
o I have a lot of friends that have gone to Sunnyslope forever but you’re taking that
away from them. They should be able to stay!
