2012 School of Character
HC receives School of Character award 2012
Hidden Creek Elementary was recently selected as a State School of Character by the State Schools
of Character (SSOC). This designation signifies they have reached a standard of excellence regarding
character development. Hidden Creek was required to address 11 principals of character practiced
in their school.
They are the only school in Washington State to receive this designation.
Hidden Creek will hold this SSOC designation for 3 years and will serve as a model of excellence
within Washington state sharing character education best practices with other schools of character.
They are also eligible for national recognition and technical assistance or other guidance from their
state sponsors to help them achieve national status.
Hidden Creek’s application will be forwarded to the Character Education Partnership organization
for consideration at the national level.
To learn more about the State Schools of Character program, read State Schools of Character:
Building Local Networks of Successful Schools.
For more information about Hidden Creek’s award, contact Dave Colombini, SKSD director of School
