CALL NUMBER YEARS FOR COMPUTER DISCS

CALL NUMBER YEARS FOR COMPUTER DISCS
Add a lowercase “e” to the end of call number years for all TC computer discs (i.e. CD-ROMs). This “e” designates the
item as an electronic resource. This applies to item records and bibliographic records only, not holdings records.
This is a new policy for serials, which previously did not add lowercase “e”’s to the end of call number years in item and
bibliographic records.
It is not necessary to retrospectively add “e”’s to previously cataloged CD-ROM serials.
STANDARDIZATION OF HANDWRITTEN LABELING ON DISCS
When processing computer discs (e.g. CD-ROMs, DVDs, DVD-ROMs, etc.) the standard handwritten label is “University
of South Carolina” (no quotation marks). Clearly print this term on the disc label with a Sharpie, trying not to cover or
obscure what is already printed on the label. (1-24-07)
