In Sri Lanka’s UPR in the first cycle in 2008, it accepted the
recommendations to take measures to protect the rights of IDPs in accordance
with international standards, including provision of long-term housing and
property restitution policies, and protecting the rights to a voluntary, safe
return and adequate restitution. Can Sri Lanka elaborate on the concrete
measures that have been taken by the Government of Sri Lanka to resettle the
approximately 300,000 IDPs who were displaced at the end of the conflict in
May 2009? What steps have been taken in safeguard their right to housing?

What are the steps taken by Sri Lanka to rehabilitate the ex-LTTE combatants
who surrendered at the end of the conflict?

of criminal convictions related to the recruitment of child soldiers and on what
measures are being taken to ensure that those responsible for such crimes are
held accountable?
