-
Focus this year is to be a better senate, and for each of us to be better senators.
We need to attend meetings and do our job well. Communicate to our classes
and keep them informed.
-

planning anything big this year!
Committee Explanations
OCSS Announcements:
Guest Speakers:
Nelie Viveros, Title IX Coordinator
-
Title IX issues are going to be much more broadcast throughout campus and we
want everyone to be aware of what title IX is (gender equality and prevention of
sexual assult)
-
There is an awesome website we should all check out. Contact her if you would
like to be a Title IX ally and be put on the website as an advisor.
-
We will hear much more from Nelie and the responses from the survey from last
year will be released soon – this is an issue.
Anschutz Health and Wellness Representatives
-
Chris and Kevin
-
They want to include a membership to the Health and Wellness center for every
student on campus. The price would be added to the student fees and it would
be $25 per month (current monthly rate for students is $35 per month).
-
Issues include that not all students would want this (a lot of people live off
campus) and that the hours are not long enough right now. Possible solutions
include working with individual schools to talk about pricing and who would
want a membership and also extending night and weekend hours to make it
more accessible to everyone. Maybe look at doing different packages as well, like
with health insurance (3 month, 6 month options, etc.).
Naveed, Randy and Theresa: Case Competition
-
They came and spoke and asked for $5,000 in order to provide scholarships for
interprofessional case competition/traveling to Emory.
-
For now voting has been tabled until next session so that we can come up with a
way to regulate giving out this much money and think on the decision.
