Scottish Screen is the national agency for the development of all aspects of moving
image in Scotland. The Archive is a department of Scottish Screen, whose remit is
to locate, preserve and provide access to moving images reflecting Scottish 20th
and 21st century culture and history. The Archive is now looking to fill the following
positions.
Education and Outreach Officer £19,808 Job Ref 110
Scottish Screen is currently undertaking a major archive education and access
project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. This new post will play a key role in
delivering a range of access and education initiatives, drawing on the footage that
is being copied with the HLF support and the existing Access collection in the
Archive.
The main purpose of the job will be to develop and implement a range of access
activities to make a proactive contribution to the awareness, understanding and
enjoyment of the moving image heritage of Scotland, addressing a social inclusion
agenda and developing new audiences for the collection.
Applicants will be qualified to degree level and have experience of working in arts
or heritage sectors. You will be an excellent communicator, team player and
confident public speaker. A knowledge of 20th century Scottish cultural and social
history would be an advantage. A full, clean driving licence is essential.

Catalogue / Web Data Assistant £14,018 Job Ref 111
This position is part of the access project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The
main purpose of this role is to enhance the cataloguing of the moving image
collection and prepare records for on-line publication.
Applicants will have a qualification in library or information science. Experience of
cataloguing and indexing, knowledge of library cataloguing systems and electronic
information systems would be an advantage. You will have excellent attention to
detail, spelling and accuracy. Excellent PC and keyboard skills and an ability to
work to specified timeframes are essential.

Project Technical Assistants £13,343 Job Ref 112
The Archive has secured funding for a major programme of duplication of original
archival filmstock to videotape for access and is looking for 2 Technical Assistants
to assist with technical servicing of the film repair, preparation and transfer to video
(telecine) programme.
Applicants will have an excellent ability to handle fragile materials with care,
excellent attention to detail and be able to work as part of a team. A full, clean
driving licence is essential as you will be transporting films to our vaults in
Kirkintilloch. A qualification or experience in photography / audio visual technology
would be an advantage.

Reception and Information Assistant (part time 15hours) £12,700 pro rated

This position provides receptionist and switchboard services as well as cataloguing
and information support for Scottish Screen Archive.
Applicants will be well organised and have excellent interpersonal skills, attention to
detail, spelling and accuracy. You will have experience in a customer service,
information, library or arts administration role. Experience of using Microsoft Office
software packages is essential. Knowledge and experience of working library
cataloguing systems and databases including Filemaker would be an advantage.
