International Student Council (ISC):
International Student Council (ISC) is one of the largest student organizations on campus. ISC represents
international students’ benefit, help students to enjoy University of Kentucky, and bring diverse issues on
campus. ISC executive leadership team will plan for International Festival in the fall semester and the
International Talent Night in the spring semester. The International Festival has been organized for more
than 10 years and growing fast every year. The International Festival is in the beginning of the fall semester
and is there to help new students to find the organizations, which they can join. In addition, there are
various foods from the all over the world, performances from various cultures, and a dance party.
International Talent Night has been performed for more than 25 years during the spring semester and
audiences can enjoy different cultures on campus. There are various events going on for the semester and
ISC will try to connect to international students and domestic students in various ways.
General responsibilities:

Commit to the position and responsibilities for a full academic year

Attend the weekly-based meetings

Respond to the e-mail related to the ISC within two business days

Actively participate in all events related to ISC

Save all the documents and pass it to the next year’s committee


Understand the demands of various international student organizations on campus

Maintain a good working relationship with student leaders and university administrators both on
and off campus.

Promote understanding among various cultures within the community.

Work effectively and efficient with other ISC council members.

Have a good understanding of the ISC mission statement.
Job Descriptions:
President
 Responsible for the overall management of the ISC.
 Organize activities that benefit international students, and activities that foster closer relations and
understanding between international students and the domestic student population.
 Represent international students at administrative and academic meetings, and at any meeting
related to the welfare of the international student population.
 Assist with the programming of the University of Kentucky International Center (UKIC).
 Chair the ISC meeting (to be held once a week).

Vice President of Promotions (formerly Publicity Director, Event Director)
 Co-chair the ISC meetings.
 Assume the duties of the president as provided by the constitution of the ISC and as when needed.
 Promote the objectives and purpose of the ISC.
 Assist the president in the duties described above.
 Organize cultural events that reflect the objectives and purpose of the ISC.
 Organize sports activities that reflect the objectives and purpose of the ISC.
 To promote the objectives and purpose of the ISC.
 To create publicity for ISC by publicizing the activities conducted by the ISC and its related activities.
 Assist the president in his/her duties (as called upon).
Vice President of Internal Affairs (formerly Secretary, Treasurer)
 Record the minutes of the ISC and Executive Committee meetings.
 Ensure that the minutes are duly prepared and distributed to the ISC members.
 Keep records of all correspondence related to the ISC.
 Monitor and maintain the finances of the ISC.
 Ensure the proper use of the finances of the ISC.
 Assist the president in his/her duties (as called upon).
Web Director
 Update ISC website with information about events, fliers, forms, and photo albums.
 Assist the committee with activities like photography, videotaping, and other general
organizational activities.
 Assist the president in his/her duties (as called upon).
Member
 Attend ISC weekly meetings.
 Participate in cultural and sport activities.
 Assist ISC in the executive team’s duties (as called upon).
