New Online Opportunity for Johnsonite® Products to Gain
Visibility Early in the Building Design Process
Chagrin Falls, OH, April 2012 - Johnsonite, the commercial arm of
the Tarkett company and provider of the world’s most integrated highperformance flooring system, announced that it is making its Johnsonite
commercial product line available through the Autodesk Seek web
service. Doing so will allow design professionals to search, preview and
download the company’s flooring solutions information and to design
Building Information Modeling (BIM) files directly from AutoCAD® and
Revit® desktop design applications, or from a standard web browser.
By adding Johnsonite commercial products information to Autodesk
Seek, building design and construction professionals will be able to
easily find and select accurate product specifications earlier in their
design projects.
SmartBIM is proud to provide its comprehensive
product modeling, environmental evaluation through ecoScorecard and
model distribution services to Johnsonite beginning May 2012.
SmartBIM has connected Johnsonite Revit object models to the
SmartBIM network which routinely accumulates over 20,000 downloads
each month to the largest A/E/C firms throughout North America and

Autodesk Seek (http://seek.autodesk.com) enables design professionals
F 440.543.5774
to use powerful parametric search technology and use key attributes to
find the building product design files they need — in the form of 3D
models, 2D drawings, visual images, and part and product specification
data. The service includes access to existing content from Autodesk
applications and combines building product manufacturers into a single,
unified search experience.
Tarkett has developed high-quality, digital design files for its Johnsonite
flooring products and will make them available through the Autodesk
Seek web-service. This allows the Johnsonite products to become more
easily connected to the Building Information Modeling (BIM) process,
which is created with coordinated, reliable and data-rich information
about a project from design through to construction.
“At Tarkett, we are always looking for ways to improve our customers’
experience. Putting our Johnsonite products onto the Autodesk Seek
web service will make it easier for our clients to access our information
while they are working in their design applications,” said Stephanie
Galaska, Interactive Media Specialist. “As more and more architecture,
engineering and construction firms move to a BIM process, it is
important to be a part of the process as early as possible.” Johnsonite
commercial products will be available digitally and in 3D.
“It is increasingly important for design professionals and builders to be
able to rely on high quality data as the A/E/C industry moves to BIM,”
said Jeff Wright, senior director of Content Solutions for Autodesk. “The
addition of Tarkett’s Johnsonite product information to the Autodesk
Seek web service is one more step in delivering a ‘critical mass’ of
product information to designers, while providing building product
manufacturers with an unprecedented platform for online marketing to
Autodesk’s customer base.”
