Beliefs and Customs
The Totem Poles represents the
family spirit. It was a tradition to pray to it. They had totem pole
raisings for weddings, funerals, and other celebrations.
Speech makers made important speeches to tell the tribe news. They danced
and prayed to the 12th god.
They created beautiful artwork to honor nature. They lived in clans.They had
parties called potlatches to celebrate how wealthy they were.
Clothing
The Northwest Coast Native Americans made their clothing out of trees.They
also wore cone shaped hats out of cedar bark. To get warm they smeared
themselves with bear grease. They used bark to make cloth. Cloth was also made
out of spruce bark and dog fur.They wore wooden
Masks to celebrate.
Food and beverages

Natural Resources
The most used resource is Cedar wood. They used cedar wood for houses and
canoes.The kwakiutl also used wood for tools.These tools were made from the
wood and they were bows and arrows. They used wood for the bottom of tools,
and used it to carve statues on the wood. They hunted and caught for food. They
used cedar trees to make canoes, houses, and clothing. And they used skins to
make clothing to.
