Hillside PTA Volunteer Interest Forms are now online
The Hillside PTA is starting to plan for next year, but we can't do it without you! Don't miss out on this
opportunity to help your child's school!
There are still many great opportunities to join one of our committees...
Here are a few.....

Available during the school day? Consider volunteering to help our PTA run lunch program or
Library program. (These committees need many volunteers in order to provide these services to
Hillside!)

Looking for an afterschool volunteer opportunity? Join our Carnival, Spring Fundraiser or
After School Enrichment Committees.

Don't have a lot of time? Consider volunteering for one of the many committees that need
volunteers for 1 hour commitments...organize a table at Multicultural Night, help clean up
Hillside with the environmental committee, assist with the clothing drive or help at the Book Fair.

Want to participate in a district wide committee? Be a board of Education observer, or attend
budget task force meetings.
There is something for everyone!!

Hillside Class Parent/PTA Liaison Form Online Now!
If you are interested and available during the day to be involved in your child's class as well as Hillside School
events and activities, then Class Parent/PTA Liaison is the perfect position for you! You will get to assist in class
parties and happenings as well as provide valuable information to other parents in the class about upcoming Hillside
events. Sign up sheets are now on-line now and will be available through August.

This is a night not to be missed!
New this year.... Watch for your child's book voucher (It will be sent home the week of 5/31)....every
student at Hillside will receive a voucher that can be turned in the night of the book fair for $4 toward a
book purchase~compliments of the Hillside School PTA.
(book voucher can only be redeemed during the bookfair. They are not valid for online purchases.)
Volunteers Needed:
Volunteer for 1/2 hour timeslot to set up or assist families interested in purchasing books from the
Teacher's Book Wish Lists.
The following timeslots are available: 5:30, 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30,
7:45. To volunteer, please email Kathleen: smallbk@aol.com. Please indicate your timeslot
preference.

Donate a cake to the cake walk to sponsor this carnival activity.....the fancier, the better!! At the Carnival,
the children can play a game similar to musical chairs. The winner gets to choose a cake! The more
cakes, the more fun!! Not a baker? Consider donating a store bought cake. See attached flyer.
MARKET DAY
Our school community is participating in a fundraising food program called Market Day. Market Day, the original
fundraising food co-op, has been in operation since 1975 and has grown to include thousands of schools just like
ours. Each month, as a participating Market Day school, restaurant-quality food products, from the same vendors
that supply many upscale restaurants, will be available for purchase. Market Day products are competitively priced
and our organization will earn profit on your purchases. We can earn this money without our students going doorto-door, without purchasing products we wouldn't ordinarily purchase, and with the knowledge that all products are
of exceptional quality and covered by a Satisfaction Guarantee!
The order sheet will be coming home once a month with your student. Please take a few minutes to review it and
place an order. We are confident that this fundraising program will not only benefit our school and the programs we
support, but will also benefit you as the consumer. Please note that the order sheets must be returned to Hillside no
later than Friday, June 3rd. The deadline for internet orders is Tuesday, June 7th.

fundraising efforts. We are committed to providing resources, activities and educational
opportunities for students, teachers and families.
Money has been spent…













Providing students with planners or take home folders for the school year
Buying books for classroom libraries
offering exciting school assemblies
running the Art Appreciation program in every classroom
hosting Multicultural Night for the Hillside community
providing mini grants to every teacher and specialist in the school
hosting school staff appreciation luncheons
buying a recess equipment rack
kicking off the school year with a Back to school picnic….complete with a balloon artist and a
face painter
celebrating Halloween with our much loved Monster Mash Dance
supporting the Hillside community during Cycle for Survival by providing t-shirts and a
reception for the teacher participants.
Purchasing hearts for the “Hearts of Hope” family night where students could make hearts,
play bingo and win prizes.
Sponsoring a nutrition program during National Nutrition month
And that’s not all…..
There is still so much planned for the rest of the school year….Memorial day activities, 5th
grade activities, and book fair vouchers.
