On behalf of the PTA, we would like to welcome everyone back to another amazing year at Hillside
School. We are looking forward to a fun, exciting and educational 2009-2010 school year.
The WWB is the PTA’s means of communicating with everyone and is sent via email every
Wednesday. Please be sure to look for the WWB in your inbox every Wednesday. Check us out

MEDIA NEEDS YOU!
Our media center (aka: library) has several classes that have only 1 or no volunteers
especially Fox, Butler, Ciuffreda, Levine, Ingoglia, Marshall and Volk. Please contact
Aurora Primamore at (973) 535-8366 if you’d like to volunteer for one or more of these
classes.
There will be a media volunteer meeting on Thursday, September 17th at 8:10 am. To
allow ample time for training, a separate refresher/new volunteer meeting will be on
Friday, September 18th (8:10 - 9:00).

Hillside Kids Have H.E.A.R.T.

HILLSIDE CARNIVAL WRISTBANDS AND PIZZA
The Hillside Carnival will be held on Friday, October 2nd from 4-7pm. Don't forget to order
wristbands for your children for the Carnival. The cost per wristband is $10 in advance and $13 if
you purchase at the carnival. Wristbands provide your children an all access pass to unlimited
games and rides. Soda or water is $1, chips are $.50, and popcorn is free. Entertainment will be
provided by Maurice’s Party Animals.
We're also offering the option to purchase pizzas that day if you'd like to picnic with your family. The
cost of each pizza pie is $11, and there will be one delivery at 5:30 pm. Please fill out your form that
was sent home in the backpacks (or download it from the PTA website) and send it back no later
than Friday, September 25th - Attention: Michelle Allen NOTE: Checks from last June were
destroyed. A new check must be sent in if you are planning to attend this year’s carnival.
HILLSIDE CARNIVAL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We need YOU...yes YOU! Hillside's annual Carnival is right around the corner and we're looking for
all the help we can find! Parent and Grandparent Volunteers are desperately needed to help set up,
clean up, hand out prizes and help with concessions. Please take the time to help out at this
celebration! Please send back your sign-up form or contact Dayna Platnick at dakamiel@aol.com

WARM WEATHER BAKE SALES
End your week on a sweet note and enjoy a homemade treat at our Warm Weather Bake Sales.
The first bake sale will be held Friday, September 18 from 2:30-3:00 p.m. on the black top and will
continue every Friday, weather permitting. If you’re interested in baking or helping out, please
contact Lauren Stone at (973) 994-3432. Every item priced at 50 cents.

Many thanks to Garine Isassi who successfully lobbied the school board to stop dumping waste and
construction debris in the woods next to our basketball courts and for getting the path from South
Ashby Avenue raised and repaved.

Show school spirit with a Hillside car magnet, cookbook or snack sack. These will be available
for purchase at PTA meetings and Back to School Night.

FRIDAY—pre-ordered lunch from Simply Gourmet Lunches
Snacks and beverages available daily for 50 cents each.
