Syrian Crisis and the EU Migration Policy
Dr. Agnieszka Weinar
Thursday, February 4th
2016
1:00 – 3:00pm
The Syrian refugee crisis is the biggest challenge the EU has faced since
the fall of communism in 1989, and the biggest humanitarian crisis on
European territory since the Balkan war of the early 1990s. It is a great
test not only for the EU migration policy, but also EU as a project. In this
presentation, Dr. Weinar will place the current crisis in the context of
the EU migration policy, discussing both internal and external aspects.
Location: 502 Jorgenson Hall
380 Victoria Street
Ryerson University
Dr. Weiner is a Senior Marie Curie Fellow at the European University Institute in
Florence and a Visiting Scholar at Carleton University’s Centre for European
Studies and Metropolis International.
