RYERSON UNIVERSITY DOUG WEBB AWARD IN HISTORY To provide financial assistance to third- or fourth-year students in the Arts and Contemporary Studies program at Ryerson University. Eligibility/Criteria for the Doug Webb Award Student must: be enrolled officially in the History program or the Arts and Contemporary Studies four-year undergraduate degree program; be enrolled in the third or fourth year of the History or ACS program and be in clear academic standing; not have received this particular award previously; be an Ontario resident; have completed at least four HIS/HST-coded courses successfully, including at least one in the following subjects: American Civil War, First World War, Second World War, or Third Reich with a minimum grade of B+; have a minimum B average overall; demonstrate financial need through submission of a budget form in accordance with the Ontario Trust for Student Support guidelines; submit a cover letter that outlines academic and career aspirations and how the receipt of this award might assist in achieving his or her goals, as well as submit a resume and list of two references. Selection Criteria (weighting): Demonstrated financial need: 35 per cent Cover letter and resume: 30 per cent Academic merit: 35 per cent A selection committee composed of three faculty members of the Ryerson Department of History will review applicants and make the final selection of the recipient based on the weighted criteria. The award will be announced in November. Please note that only the award winner will be contacted. If in the opinion of the selection committee no applicants meet the outlined criteria, the award will not be given to any applicant that year.
