The Cairncross McRae Bursary

The Cairncross McRae Bursary is open to applications from Postgraduate Research Students at the School of

Interdisciplinary Studies whose work accords with the central themes of the Solway Centre for Environment and Culture .

The Solway Centre for Environment and Culture aims to conduct world class research and to provide knowledge exchange on the interrelations between environment and culture, with special reference to rural areas. The three key research themes of the Centre are:

Landscape, place and memory

Sustainable, rural tourism

Rural landscape management

We are particularly interested in the areas where these three overlap, creating theoretical challenges and offering opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.

Applicants should provide a letter of recommendation and support from at least one of their supervisors (or intended supervisors) in which the relevance of their research area in respect of themes of the Solway Centre is made clear.
