Student Ambassador Application Pack 2014/15

The Student Ambassador role involves promoting the university at campus-based events, which can include Open Days , Interview days, Applicants’ visit days and Orientation Week events.

Delivering high quality campus tours is a major part of the role, as well as welcoming visitors, setting up and clearing of venues, and generally offering advice and assistance. You may also be asked to undertake administrative tasks, e.g. mailing, photocopying, data entry etc.

Enthusiastic and knowledgeable Student Ambassadors are key to the development of our campus. This is an important and rewarding role; you are the ‘face’ of a world top 100 university, representing our degree programmes to local, national and international visitors.

Put yourself in the shoes of a potential applicant at an Open Day

– you will remember that talking to students at your chosen universities is an incredibly valuable experience.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for friendly, confident, positive students who are enjoying their studies here and are keen to promote the best aspects of Dumfries, the campus, and the courses. We need an endless list of qualities: organised, presentable, friendly, polite, cheerful, efficient, tactful, able to follow procedures, excellent presentation skills, hardworking, flexible, productive under pressure… If this sounds like you, then you should consider applying for the role! We are looking for a wide range of Student Ambassadors from all programmes

(undergraduate and postgraduate).

What do you get in return?

Becoming a Student Ambassador is an excellent way of enhancing your CV, developing your presentation and organisational skills, and becoming an even more important part of the Dumfries Campus community. It’s fun and rewarding. You will receive training and will be paid an hourly rate for both work and training. Please note that work is not always regular and we cannot guarantee a minimum number of hours – the earning potential is therefore probably not a substitute for a regular part time job. Work is sometimes offered to the most appropriate students (e.g. Education interview work may be offered to Education students first) and is sometimes offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
