Los Angeles Harbor College Staff Development Committee and Accreditation Steering Committee Incorporating Student Learning Outcomes into Course Outlines August 11, 2004 Dear Colleague, This year Los Angeles Harbor College will be gearing up for our 2006 accreditation. As part of the accreditation process, the accrediting association, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASH), is requiring that “Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)” be incorporated in all aspects of the campus organization. A major aspect of this requirement is to determine what we want our students to learn and how do we measure if they’re learning it. In an attempt to assist instructors as to what student learning outcomes are, how SLOs might be incorporated into the course outline and how we might continue to increase our updated, online course outlines, the staff development committee will be presenting a workshop during the MANDATORY FLEX DAY, AUGUST 27TH.
