2015 – 2016
Classroom Expectations
School and Choral Classroom Norms
Be Respectful
Each student will show respect to the teacher and
students, celebrating our uniqueness.
All students should feel comfortable while developing and
enjoying their talents.
Always remember to treat others as you would want to be
treated.
Be Responsible
Students will be prepared both physically and mentally for
each class.
Take responsibility for your actions, one is more easy to
forgive with an ‘I’m Sorry’ than with an argument.
Be Cooperative
Work as a team.
Listen to the teacher and each other; good communication
knows when to talk and when to listen.
Students will follow all classroom norms and expectations.
Discipline Plan
1st Offense: Student/Teacher Conference- verbal warning
2nd Offense: Student/Teacher Conference, Bounce to
alternative location
3rd Offense: Student/Teacher Conference, Phone call
home, Restorative Lunch Detention
4th Offense: Discipline Referral, phone call home, and
parent/teacher conference
Bounce and Restorative Lunch Detention are alternative
discipline measures that will be used depending on the
offense

2015 – 2016
Grading Policy
Chorus is a performance based music class in
which student’s grade is based primarily on their
performance in rehearsals (daily participation)
and at the required concerts (after school).
signed by a parent/guardian and turned in one
week prior to the concert. Only extreme
circumstances (severe illness/death) do not
require a note prior to the concert.
Daily Participation (50%)
Students are required to make up work when
absent. Therefore, when a student misses a
concert there will be a makeup presentation in
place of the concert. Considering the concert
counts for 50% of a student’s grade the project
will be pretty extensive.
Students will receive a daily participation grade
based on the daily rubric as outlined on this page.
Concerts (50%)
There are 2 concerts this year, one in the winter,
and one at the end of the year. All Concerts will
be in the EIMS gym. Students will be required to
be there by at least 15 minutes prior to the concert
time unless I provide the option of staying after
school. Students unable to attend a concert need a
note stating a legitimate reason why he/she
cannot attend the concert. This note needs to be
When a student is unable to attend a concert it
not only alters the sound of the group but they
miss an opportunity to share what they have
worked on all year.
It is important everyone is there.
