My name is Mrs. Rambo, and I will be your 6th Grade History teacher. As you start your middle school experience, I am sure you have many questions. Hopefully as you read through this sheet, many of your questions about our class will be answered. If not, please don't hesitate to ask. Here’s the scoop! WHAT MATERIALS ARE NEEDED FOR CLASS? **Please bring these items to every class** a 1 1/2 inch three-ring binder 1 package (set of 5) of dividers for binder Pens/Pencils Agenda (provided by school) Book to read CLASS EXPECTATIONS: I expect my students to: Follow the school and classroom rules, specifically: Be Respectful of Yourself and Others; Be Respectful of Property and the Environment; Be Responsible; and Be Safe Participate in classroom activities and discussions Come to class prepared and organized Complete assignments and projects on time, or talk to me ahead of time if there is a problem Try your best My students can expect me to: Be prepared and organized for class Return assignments and assessments in a timely manner Respect your opinions, questions and answers COMMUNICATION: I believe to have a successful year, we (teacher/students/parents) need to work together as a team. WHAT IF I AM ABSENT? You are responsible for getting the materials and information you missed while you were absent. You will need to check the "Catching Up" class file, as well as speak me to ensure you have all the information needed. You should also check the Homework calendar and "Binder Content" on my website. WHAT IS THE POLICY FOR HOMEWORK AND GRADING? Homework will be assigned as needed and will be posted on my website. Grading will be done in accordance with the LCPS grading scale which can be found in the student agenda. Grades will be determined based on summative assessments (quizzes & tests). All summative assessments will be announced in advance and posted on the Homework Calendar. WHAT IF I HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR NEED EXTRA HELP? I plan to send out regular email messages at the beginning of each unit in order to inform parents about what we are focusing on in class. To do this, I will need parent/guardian email addresses. Your email address will remain confidential. Please send my an email with your child's name in the subject area along with any information you would like me to know about your child.
