Science Math Review In order to ensure that all Park View students are successful in their endeavors in science, efforts need to be taken to improve basic math skills starting with the freshman and continuing until graduation. Below are a list of some fundamental math skills necessary for success. Notice that many of the skills are used in every science class. Therefore if all science teachers spent some time reviewing at the beginning of the year and periodically throughout the year, the students should master these basic skills by the time they take Chemistry, which is a SOL subject that requires math and algebra skills. With a little creativity and effort, some of these skills can be incorporated into daily lesson plans. The students have many of the math skills, however, because the math and science teachers use different terminology, many of the students have difficulty bridging this math-science gap. Efforts are underway to work with the math department to identify and use common terminology for the students.
