on one of the following pollution issues:






Air – include a brief discussion of indoor air pollution
o Ozone
o Global warming/Climate change
o Smog - particulates
Water
o Surface water – point-source and non-point source
o Groundwater – discussion of Karst topography
o Marine/Ocean
Hazardous Waste
Mining (non-renewable energy and ores/mineral resources)
Soil/Land
Thermal/Nuclear/Light
Each presentation must include information on the following:
1. Generic definition
2. Sources/Causes

5. Effect on Human Health
6. Remediation/Clean-up measures/protocols
7. Relevant Laws/Treaties
8. References/Cited works –MUST include relevant pages in your text book!
You have been assigned a topic – you may TRADE topics, but these have been assigned so all areas are

USE your book as a source and reference the relevant pages in your presentation
Total point value is 100 (same as a test)
You will have ONE MONTH to develop your presentation – Due date is February 11
APES TEST – BIOGEOCHEMICAL CYCLES and LIVING SYSTEMS

2. Energy flow in Ecosystems
a. Know the information from the power point 3.6
b. Know the information from Power Point 3.7 - food webs
c. Know how to calculate energy requirements at each trophic level
d. Know the information in the energy pyramids and food chains hand-out
e. Be familiar with the calculations similar to those in the “Eating at a Lower Trophic Level”
ADD (some repeat)
