Newspaper Article Book Report Due Monday, February 8th January’s book report is based on a book you have read from one of three genres: historical fiction, realistic fiction or non-fiction. (Historical fiction is a fictional story that takes place in a time period in the past. The setting is usually real, but the characters are made up from the author’s imagination. Realistic fiction is a story made up with characters and events, and the events could have happened in real life.) Directions: 1. Choose a book to read and read it. 2. Pretend you are a newspaper reporter. You are going to report what happened in the story by summarizing. *Remember that reporters have to be impartial. When you tell the story, don’t give your opinion on the character’s actions. *Make sure your article includes the title of the book, the author, your name, and an illustration that supports the main idea of the story. *Your illustration should include a caption that explains what is in the drawing. 3. Use the newspaper article planner on the back to help organize your thoughts. Remember that an article is written in columns.
