Critter Posters
By now, you have chosen a common animal or plant of Loudoun
County. Your job is to develop an informative poster regarding this species.
This is not a 3rd grade level basic poster. You are to include:
Picture(s)
Geographic Range
Basic Life-History
Most Importantly (The thing you are graded on):
Survival rates
Birth Rates
Population Ecology
Bibliography (just cut and paste URL’s you use)
For these items I expect for you to try to track down original research. A
good way to get started is to type the scientific name and the word “abstract”
into google. Additionally you may find it helpful to look for .pdf files under
the advanced search options in Google. The best source is probably google
scholar. You will present the poster to the class, however you will not be
graded on presentation. The poster can be any size. Use ONLY YOUR
OWN WORDS!
Endangered Critter Follow-up (We probably won’t do this)
Chose an organism from the many found at:

Review, thoroughly, the plan linked to for your species and provide a poster
similar to the one created above. Include information on management of
vital rates (survival/reproduction) and how this management may help your
species. Please limit the poster to a normal sheet of paper or use the back of
the poster listed above.
After the class has presented both sets of critters reflect on what you have
heard and list characteristics of animals that are endangered that may be
different from common animals:
