ten or more vocabulary words

Demonstrate the meaning of ten or more vocabulary words you choose through the comic strip you
create by applying the words to a real life (comic world) situation. Plan your comic strip to best show your
interpretation of these meanings through the setting, characters, actions, and props you plan to use. Create a
comic strip of six or more panels with the assigned vocabulary words, accessible on a handout at Mr. Free’s
class website. Pick at least ten of the words and create a six-scene (or longer) comic using these words in a
way that conveys the correct meaning.
In each of the six frames of the comic strip use at least one of the vocabulary words in a meaningful
way. Do NOT simply ask a character to define the word and do NOT just list words. Use the word(s) in a
conversation or dialogue.
Similar to authoring a story or a play, you need to think and plan carefully about the setting, plot,
characters, and props that you will use .Consider the following questions when you plan your comic strip.
 What story line and characters will make sense considering the vocabulary words you chose to use?
 What will the words in the captions tell about the scene and the actions depicted?
 What kind of landscape makes sense for the scene, considering the vocabulary words you chose to use?
 What props can you use in the scene that help to explain the vocabulary words you chose to use?
 What kind of dialogue bubble makes sense for the interaction between the characters you are choosing to
use?
 What connects one scene to the next in the comic strip?
You may hand-draw and color or use any online comic strip generator you are familiar with, as long as
you are able to print the finished comic. Please obtain permission to print your comic when it is completed to
turn in. Please have your vocabulary words stand out by highlighting, bolding, or underlining them. Here are
links to several comic generator sites in case you do not already have a favorite.
