Parts of Speech Review: Verbs



An action verb expresses an action. This action can either be physical (run, jump, sing,
dance) or mental (think, dream, wonder).
A linking verb links the subject of the sentence (who/what the sentence is about) with a
noun or adjective that describes the subject.
An auxiliary, or helping, verb “helps out” another verb in the sentence. It is paired with an
action verb to make up a verb phrase.
