Use your knowledge of sound and its application to explain how the instrument of your choice
works. Be sure to include:
 How the design of the instrument promotes sound
 Why the instrument is made out of the material it is
 Relate the sounds you produce to vocab terms such as: pitch, loudness, constructive &
destructive interference, resonance (text book pages 552-554 may be of help)
 Incorporate playing a musical piece into your discussion (either videotaped of yourself,
or play in front of class)
How you will receive your grade on this project:
40 points from at home work (on time, meets the above mentioned
expectations)
60 points from in-class written responses. Be sure you can explain how
each of the vocab terms above relates to the playing of your
instrument. Be able to relate the instrument’s design to how it
functions.
