Energy Project OBJECTIVES: Students will gain an understanding of a specific topic related to energy and will be able to demonstrate their understanding through a thorough, well-thought out, and entertaining presentation on the Promethean Board. Directions: 1. Create a Powerpoint from the Energy Topic given you answering 3 of the 5 questions. If you just answer the questions you will get an ok grade. If you go above and beyond those questions by adding extra facts, and making your presentation special you will get a better grade. 2. “Entertaining” means interesting, fun to watch, not boring; ‘entertaining’ can be achieved by the use of interesting pictures, fun or strange facts, and imaginative presentation. It does NOT mean the use of vulgar or suggestive language or pictures, or reference to anything that is not allowed on clothing at school, or the use of any words or pictures that could be embarrassing to anyone. The use of such material will get both partners a score of 50% on their project regardless of how good it is otherwise. 3. Students should be sure that their presentation covers all the specific requirements listed on the rubric. 4. The following questions should be used as a guideline for the minimum that should be covered in your presentation—covering only these questions does not guarantee a good grade on this project. To get an “A” on this project, you will have to go above and beyond what is outlined on the rubric. Your project has to thorough but not boring. 5. This project requires you to step up your game: It requires research skills, presentation production prowess, and imagination. 6. If you settle for adequate, your grade will only be adequate as well. Questions to Consider (Referring your energy system/topic): 1. What source(s) of energy is required? How abundant or common is it? 2. What energy conversion must occur for your system work? How does the system work? How long does it usually last? 3. How does your system compare to a more conventional one? (include cost) 4. What kind of maintenance is required? 5. What kinds and levels or emissions (pollution) is given off? Slides required: Title slide, Information slides, Resource slide. Pick 3 of the questions. Use size 24 font.
