Colonial Booklet
Due: Jan 8th (A Days) and 9th (B Days)
For this project, you will create a character with a unique religion, job, social life, and political life. Your
character will take a journey through the 13 colonies. Along the way, he/she meets new people and
observes the way of life in each colonial region. At the end of the journey, your character will decide
which region he/she would like to settle in.
Booklet Pages:
Read the description for each page carefully, and follow the directions.
Background: On the first page of your booklet, describe your character. Discuss his/her religious life,
economic life (job), social life, and political life. Draw a picture of your character. Region=none
Scene 1: Your character meets someone from one of the 3 colonial regions (New England, Mid Atlantic,
Southern). Draw a picture of the person he/she meets. Write a dialogue of the conversation that your
character and this new person have. In your dialogue, include information about the religion, job, and
daily life of the new person. Region=
Scene 2: Your character sees a flyer advertising 2 employment positions in one of the 3 colonial regions.
Using your knowledge of the jobs in each region, create the job wanted ads. Make sure you state the
location of the job on the flyer. Region=
Scene 3: Your character travels to Roanoke Island, site of the “Lost Colony.” After looking around,
he/she draws a diagram showing what he/she thinks happened to the settlers. Make sure each detail of
your diagram is labeled. Region=Southern
Scene 4: Your character decides to travel to one of the 3 regions. Using your knowledge of each colonial
region, draw a picture of the community he or she sees. What do the buildings look like? What are
people doing? Region=
Scene 5: Your character is deciding where to settle. Write a letter that he/she sends to family in England
describing his/her reasons (at least 2) for settling in the region. Region=
