What is an Instructional Facilitator?
An instructional facilitator (IF) ensures that all students receive quality instruction every day. I
do this by providing coaching, training, modeling and mentoring to teachers. I also make sure
that they have all the resources and support they need to give every student the best instruction
available. I help teachers to find out exactly what the needs of the students are by analyzing data,
screening and assessing students. I also make sure that district mandates and policies are carried
out with integrity in every classroom every day. I support the principal to identify what the needs
of the teachers are and to develop strategies to meet those needs.
RTI (Responsiveness to Instruction)
In Iredell-Statesville Schools we implement Responsiveness to Instruction. This is a model that
ensures that we are aware of the academic needs of every child. We carefully collect data over
several years to help us determine if a student has any "gap" areas. Once we identify exactly
what the individual needs are, we develop a personal plan for the student to help them close the
gap. Teachers work with students on a one to one basis whenever possible to encourage them,
tutor them and help them to be successful.
What is PDSA?
PDSA is a process of continuous improvement in cycles of Plan-Do-Study-Act. It aligns with the
ISS model and helps us to reflect and use data to improve; it guides all that we do.
