CLARITY
– Best way to be up-to-date on student progress
• If possible, keep updated email information in
Clarity.
• On your exit ticket, sign in and include a
working email address so that we may
effectively communicate throughout the year.
– HOWEVER, we strongly encourage your
son/daughter to proactively contact his/her
teacher(s) with questions or concerns.
Important Info
• ON THE LCPS – DHS Faculty page
– Links to handouts, projects, due dates, vocabulary
lists, roots/affix lists, quarterly plans, and even
shoutouts to students for exceptional
accomplishments
– **Not guaranteed to be updated after every single
day – students must use daily agendas to record
assignments and due dates**
• Turnitin.com
– Will be used this year for rough drafts, peer editing,
and final copies of essays
POLICIES
• Grading
– Writing/Editing/Revising (50%)
– Tests/Projects/Quizzes (15%)
– Classwork (participation and preparedness included)
(20%)
– Homework (15%)
• Accomplishing homework and classwork consistently is the
only reason a grade “bump” may every be given. No extra
credit assignments.
• Late work
– Late work will lose 50% after one day – work will not
be worth any points past that point. Projects and
essays will have a 20% deduction for every day that it
is past the due date.

• NOT disrupt class with personal problems, but
can pose their issues to me personally at the

them.
• NOT change a grade because of complaints.
• NOT argue with a student/parent.
• Listen and converse with students if approached
in a proper manner.

needed.
Expectations

• Survive, understand, and thrive while learning
different dimensions of writing, grammar,
reading, vocabulary, and ourselves as people.
• Understand when it is time to be serious.
• Become better people.
• NOT be “friends” but we will be friendly and
respect one another in and outside of this
learning environment.
