Dear Parent(s) and/or Guardian(s),

It is the goal of LES to maintain safety during car rider drop off and dismissal. Safety concerns arise when cars are not following normal traffic patterns, not following our school procedures and not obeying driving laws. Other concerns arise when visitors pick up students without an LES Car Name Plate visible in their window. As a school we feel that safety is one of our top priorities. We want to make sure that students are kept safe at all times!

I ask that everyone remembers and follows the following procedures during car rider drop off and dismissal:

Morning Car Riders Safety Tips:

-follow the line of traffic and stay in normal traffic pattern

- drive slowly

-pull all the way through and stop directly behind the car in front of you

-continue to pull through even if pedestrians are waiting, they will cross when all traffic is brought to a stop in front of the school

-students arriving after 7:30am must be escorted by a parent or guardian into the school office

Afternoon Car Riders Safety Tips:

-follow the line of traffic and stay in normal traffic pattern

-have your LES car name plate visible for all school staff to see

-drive slowly

-move to the appropriate color space for your child (LES side only)

-do not park and walk over to get your child (This is not permitted on either side LES or LMS)

***PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ALL TRAFFIC LAWS AND LAWS REGARDING SCHOOL BUS TRANSPORTATION SHOULD BE

FOLLOWED

All families should have an updated LES Car Name Plate visible in their car window when they come to pick up their child. This name plate is available in the front office if you did not receive at during open house. Anyone picking up a child at LES coming through the car rider line must have this name plate visible. Any person that arrives to pick up a child and does not have the appropriate name plate displayed will be asked to park, enter the office and provide proper ID before taking a child. Please make sure that if you have more than one person that picks up your child that each person has a Name Plate for their vehicle. If a friend picks up your child daily please make sure your child’s name is on their name plate.

If you are parking and walking your child in each morning please be aware that you should wait until all traffic is stopped around the front of the school before crossing. The adult on duty will motion for all cars to continue coming and pulling in directly behind the car in front of them. At the point that all cars are stopped and students are unloading, pedestrians may cross safely at this time. Please adhere to this rule because it enables us to keep all students safe and get all car riders into the building on time.

If your child wil l go home a different way other than their normal routine, please make sure that a note is provided to your child’s teacher. The note should be signed and dated. Emails and phone calls are accepted only in emergency situations.

Thank you for your attention to these issues and concerns. I appreciate your support and efforts in assisting us keep all students safe.
