You can find them in any daily newspaper, but they won’t be in the comics section. Political cartoons can be very funny, especially if you understand the issue that they’re commenting on. Their main purpose, though, is not to amuse you but to persuade you. A good political cartoon makes you think about current events, but it also tries to sway your opinion toward the cartoonist’s point of view. The best political cartoonist can change your mind on an issue without you even realizing how he or she did it. Your task will be to draw two new political cartoons regarding necessity of individuals to fulfill the duties and responsibilities that are required for a U.S. Citizen. Each cartoon of the ideal will have its own piece of paper. The front side will showcase your political cartoon and the back side will have two paragraphs of 5-7 sentences each. One paragraph should discuss why you chose to represent this ideal in your cartoon and the second should contain the statement that you are making with your illustration.
