Teacher’s Tidbits
Wow! Did October fly by or what??!! I can’t
believe it is already November, and we are
talking about Thanksgiving and the Winter
Break. Our class is working hard to earn their
“pesos” so they can cash them in for class
rewards. This is a method of rewarding the
class when they are “caught” being good.
Compliments can come from the principal,
assistant principal, teachers, or myself.
Pink Impact Aid Cards
On Thursday, November 5, 2015 your child will bring
home a pink Pupil-Parent Survey form. The purpose
of this form is to assure that Loudoun County will
receive all permissible Federal Impact Aid funds.
Loudoun is eligible to receive Impact Aid funds if
either parent or guardian is on active duty in the
uniformed services or if either parent or guardian is
working on federal owned property located in
Virginia. Since these funds are used to support
public education, receiving them will help reduce the
amount of local taxes needed to provide an
education for your child. You can help by:
1.) Completing one form for each school
aged child in the family.
2.) Return the form to your child's
classroom teacher by Friday, November
6, 2014.
Curriculum Corner
During the course of the second quarter, we will
be covering topics such as time to hour and ½
hour and we will continue number sense in math.
In science, we will discuss how animals, plants and
people continue to prepare for winter. In social
science, we will continue to discuss the present,
past and future, as well as the First Thanksgiving.
Our computer lab will be our weekly I-Ready time
for Math. Our Guided Reading groups are up and
running during our Language Arts block. Please
continue to have your child read daily. It’s very
important to have them share with you what they
have read. If reading a fiction book, ask them to
retell the story to you. With non-fiction, ask
them to name three facts that they may have
learned. Just getting them to talk about their
books is one way to improve comprehension.
As always, if you ever have any questions or
concerns, please drop me an email:

November Birthdays
No birthdays this month
Reminders:
Important Dates
 The weather is cooling down, so please dress
your children appropriately. Dressing in layers
is best! Be sure to label your children’s coats
with their name. We do still go outside for
recess even if it’s chilly outside.
 If at all possible, please send in a water bottle
for your child to keep at his/her desk (if you
haven’t already done so.) We still have a
number of children who make frequent trips to
the water fountain during instruction.

Volunteer Central
American Education Week
We will be celebrating American Education
Week Nov. 16-20. Parents are invited to
our classroom on Wednesday, Nov. 18th,
10:15-11:00 to participate in a Social
Science activity. Lunch in the cafeteria
(11:10-11:40) will follow the activity for
anyone interested. Hope to see you then!
Having the volunteers in the classroom for Chat
and Chew each week is always fun for the
students. Thanks to Mrs. Wollam and Mrs.
LaLumiere for giving of their time to make our
classroom a better place. Thank you also to Mrs.
Morrell and her helpers for their hard work with
our fall party!
