Technology Enhanced Graduate Learning Outcomes

PARTICIPANT INFORMATION STATEMENT

What is the study about?

You are invited to participate in a study of how new technologies are being used by universities to support the development of graduate attributes. A better understanding of how university teachers are using technology enhanced learning to assist graduates to develop important outcomes like critical thinking, communication and citizenship (‘graduate attributes’), will help to improve university teaching and the design of university curricula.

Who is carrying out the study?

The study is being conducted by Associate Professor Simon Barrie, Director Teaching and Learning at the University of Sydney.

What does the study involve?

Participation in the study would involve an interview with the researcher, conducted in person, at a convenient location (e.g. your office) at the participant ’s university, or by Skype, at a mutually agreeable time. With your permission, the interview will be audio-recorded to support subsequent data analysis. The interview will explore your perspectives on the use of technology enhanced learning environments to foster the development of graduate attributes. There will be no risk to participants in the study.

How much time will the study take?

Depending on how much detail you wish to provide, the interview will usually last between 30 – 60 minutes.

Can I withdraw from the study?

Being in this study is completely voluntary - you are not under any obligation to consent and - if you do consent - you can withdraw at any time without affecting your relationship with The University of

Sydney.

If you do decide to participate, you may stop the interview at any time if you do not wish to continue, the audio will be erased and the information provided will not be included in the study.
