Classroom News
Well, the beginning of the year has come and gone. Everyone seems to be well adjusted
to the second grade routine. A huge thank you goes to Mrs. Franklin (Julia’s Mom) and Mrs.
Hendershot (Ethan’s mom) for volunteering to be our Room Moms and to Mrs. Ciambruschini
(Camille’s Mom), for being our Copy Mom. The book character parade is on Oct. 30th at 1:00.
Our party will take place after that and more information about this will be coming soon. I will
be starting editing volunteers in a few weeks.
Classroom News
Writing homework seems to be going smoothly. Please remember that your child needs to
write 5 -6 sentences for the entire week. I send home the assignment on Monday and it needs
to be returned by Friday. It is fine to turn it in early. In addition to that, the weekly spelling
word will be glued into the homework book each Monday so parents know the weekly features
and spelling words.
Remember to read every night and return their book cart books daily!! Please practice
math facts as well. Students have access to Reflex and i-ready at home. The passwords are the
same as at school.
We begin our day at 7:50 am. Please help your second grader get to the classroom before
the tardy bell. Your continued support with helping your second grader do their homework and
ensuring that it is sent to school is much appreciated.
Our class has been reading up a storm – I am so proud of them! We have also been picking
“Just Right Books” to help us with our reading. I have taught your child how to use I PICK to
find a “just right book”. Ask them to tell you what the letters stand for. Remember to read
every night and return their book cart books daily!! The book cart books are used to practice
reading and eye fluency. Please use these books to see if your child can do a beginning, middle
and end re-tell. See if they can answer who the characters are, setting, problem in the story.
