We will accept up to 40 students for this year’s program. YSP challenges students to make full use of their intellectual gifts and to develop their creative, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills. The program requires that students tackle a topic that has no defined answer. Our format allows students to be creative and to look at the assigned problem from a variety of perspectives before deciding on a course of action. We seek students who: Love learning Are intellectually curious Can work collaboratively with others Are highly motivated Can handle risk and uncertainty Have a good work ethic Or have other outstanding qualities that qualify them for the program Write an essay of approximately 250-300 words that demonstrates in what ways you possess one or more of these qualities. We prefer essays that deal with a few qualities to those that try to cover all of the above-mentioned qualities. Scholarship: If you are interested in being considered for a 50% tuition scholarship toward the cost of the program, please write an additional essay supporting the reason(s) of why you should be considered along with a copy of your parent/guardian tax return. We typically award this scholarship to at least two students based on family income eligibility guidelines posted at http://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ope/trio/incomelevels.html We will notify those students who are accepted and eligible for this scholarship by June 15.
