Monday Memo 10/5/15
Hello Parents,
We have a lot going on this week! First off, Wednesday is Fall Picture Day. I
have sent home the envelopes to order pictures. If you would like to order prints,
please send the money in the envelope provided no later than Wednesday
morning. If you do not want to order pictures right away, you can wait until the
proofs come back as well and do so online.
On Thursday, we will be taking a CBI trip to Purcellville to visit a Therapeutic
Riding Center. The students will get to interact with, and possibly ride,
therapeutic horses. We are extremely excited to go, but we NEED the permission
slips back ASAP! This permission slip comes directly from the riding center and
they will not allow any student who does not have a signature, to participate in
the event. Please sign and return this form by Wednesday as we leave very early
on Thursday morning.
Halloween is approaching! We have been slowly decorating the classroom
and are having fun creating Halloween patterns. We will continue to do so
through out this week as well. We are also working on descriptive words.
Students will be looking at pumpkins and other Halloween items to identify
different adjectives and appropriate descriptive words. As you go through out
your week, please try to incorporate descriptive language with your child.
Lastly, I’d like to inform you that Halloween is a big event at Lowes Island
Elementary. Students are allowed to (and encouraged) to dress up in their
costumes on Friday, October 30th. The students will attend a Halloween songfest,
along with the rest of the school. I also take the students “trick or treating”
around the school to practice their social skills. At the end of the day, the whole
school participates in a Halloween parade. Parents are welcome to come and
watch the parade and cheer on the students!
Have a great week!
