Welcome Back, Students and Parents! August 2015 Dear Parents, I would like to welcome those of you who are returning to Sycolin Creek Elementary and those of you who are new to SCES this year. I hope that everyone had a wonderful and relaxing summer vacation and that you are energized and ready to start our new school year. My name is Kelly Ambler and this year marks my tenth year in education. I worked as a Reading Specialist in the state of Florida and have spent the last year working as a resource teacher at Sycolin Creek. Currently, I am pursuing my Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Special Education and am eagerly anticipating the completion of the program this year. I am looking forward to being your child’s resource teacher. My goal is to help students reach their full academic and social potential. Your child will receive an educational program that encompasses the goals and instructional strategies outlined in his/her Individualized Education Plan (IEP). I will work in partnership with the classroom teacher to help your child master new academic and behavioral skills and be successful this school year. I hope that you can join us for our Back to School Night on Thursday, August 27th. Grades 1-3 will meet at 6:00 pm and grades 4-5 will meet at 7:00 pm. The following day, Friday, August 28th is our Open House for grades 1-5 from 10:00-11:00 am. The Open House provides the opportunity (for both parents and students) to visit the classroom, meet teachers and bring any school supplies you may already have. Please plan to stop by to see me in Room # 40. I am a huge supporter of the parent-teacher relationship and am always happy to discuss your child, what is happening in the classroom and ways you can support your child’s learning at home. Throughout the school year, if you have any questions regarding your child's academic performance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Our school phone number is (571) 252- 2910. My email address is kelly.ambler@lcps.org. I look forward to working with you and your child. It’s going to be a great year! Yours in Learning, Kelly Ambler
