The LC Health Dept. is not the place to bring your sick child. It does provide dental care and
screenings for children, family planning, HIV and case management, immunizations, maternity
care, STD evaluations, TB testing and treatment, flu shots, (age and income restrictions apply).
If you are on Medicaid or free lunch, dental services are free automatically here.

ONE SIGHT VISION Program – partners are Lenscrafters, Target Optical, Sears Optical or Pearl
Vision
The Ashburn clinic provides tuberculosis screenings only, at a cost of $15.90 per TB risk
assessment. There is an additional charge of $7.00 if a TB test is placed as a result of the

tuberculosis, which is available at a separate charge. Patients are seen for TB screenings on a
walk-in basis each Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Free Eye Care and Eyewear available to needy children through its Sight for Students program.
Family income no more than 200% of federal poverty level. Child cannot be enrolled in
Medicaid, FAMIS or other vision insurance. (They are already automatically enrolled). Child is
18 years old and younger; has not graduated high school. Child or parent is a US Citizen or
legal immigrant with SS number. Can only be used once every 12 months. See Clinic Staff or
Parent Liaison for this program.
Contact each separately. Eye glasses are free; exam prices vary per location, but most are at a
discount. A note is needed from the school nurse, on school letterhead with school TAX ID
number identifying that the student has a need for exam/glasses. Bring letter to your location
for services.

GSA is a non-profit that provides emergency and transitional housing for families. They also provide
resources for referrals for food, clothing, transportation and job referrals.

manager for a voucher to send to the store closest to the family where they may shop. The family will
need to see the manager on duty to and let them know they are there to use the voucher sent in for
them.

Assistance for Sterling, Herndon, or Ashburn Residents.
Please note: This is the primary method that clients needing emergency food use to communicate their
need to LINK. It is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However, it is always answered by an
answering device and you need to leave a message. The volunteers at LINK strive to return all calls
within 24 hours.

Army of Loudoun County for help and advice. The non-profit distributes assistance for a number of basic
needs. While food and meals are offered, programs also offer help for paying utility bills, rent,
prescriptions, food, clothing, and furniture. A caseworker will sit down and meet the individual who
needs help. They will then determine a client's eligibility for food or financial assistance based on need.
The Salvation Army thrift stores provide free or low cost household items, furniture, and clothing at a
low-cost rate. A food bank is also on site, and holiday assistance is offered too.
For Saturday meal distribution, please contact them directly for availability and times.

Hebron House:
-The Good Shepherd Alliance currently operates a 20-bed emergency shelter for
women and children called Hebron. Residents enter a Six Step to Self-Sufficiency
program upon entering the shelter. Guests may stay up to 89 days. Hebron has
two large “family rooms” for singer mothers with 3-7 children and five other
bedrooms accommodating 2-3 single women or single mothers with 1-2 children
each.

Marys House of Hope:
Transitional home for single mothers.
Home to as many as three women, either pregnant or having an infant, three toddlers
and the house monitor.

Peace House
Transitional home for single women, providing up to one year of continued
support for four of GSA’s “Six Step” graduates.

Family Transitional Housing
The Good Shepherd Alliance provides Transitional Housing for Families through
individual single-family homes. These homes provide a time of stability when a
family is faced with a significant drop in income such as a job loss or medical
situation, which results in eviction or foreclosure.

The Shelter operates twenty-four hours per day, three hundred sixty-five days per year. The Shelter
provides: group and individual counseling; medical and mental health services; substance assessment; recreation
and physical fitness; community service opportunities; tutoring and educational support; and family work. Our
counselors and staff prepare and make connections for youth to receive assistance through a number of community
resources as they move through this transitional period in their lives.
