Spelling Homework Assignments Your child will have spelling homework Monday through Thursday. The students will have homework choices for two nights and required assignments for the remaining nights. The green spelling folder and word cards come back to school every day! Spelling cards are stored in a baggie in the folder. See below for suggested word study activities. Any work done on paper from home can be turned in to the teacher with your name on it. ***SORT ALL WORDS BY THE SPELLING FEATURE EVERY NIGHT*** Monday First, sort all words by feature. Free choice night. Tuesday Required Assignment First, sort all words by feature. Write 3 interesting sentences using at least 6 spelling words. Underline each spelling word used. Remember capitals and punctuation. Wednesday First, sort all words by feature. Free choice night. Thursday Required Assignment First, sort all words by feature. Copy down all features and have someone call out the words. Write them neatly under the correct feature. Check using the spelling cards. Correct your mistakes. Choices ABC order Write words using crayons or markers on paper from home. Draw a picture for each word and label with the spelling word. Write a short paragraph/story. Underline spelling words. Sign language: fingerspell each word for an adult. Copy words: color code vowels and consonants (red vowels, blue consonants) Computer: type words in different fonts/colors. Print. Build new words by adding endings: –ed, -ing, -s, -ly or –es Dictionary: write 8-10 words, locate in a dictionary, copy down the guide words. Be creative and show a new way to practice your words!
