Call to Order: 7:00 pm
OFFICER’S REPORTS
Co-President(s): Diane Insari, Angie Morris
 Mural painting in lobby is currently underway.
 Please fill out PTO survey if you are a committee chair. Feedback will provide
officer’s insight on the respective committees and if the chairs’ are interested in
continuing in the role. Please respond ASAP in order to plan for the next school year.
 Need two additional people to serve on nominating committee for Officers and
Committee Chairs for next year. If interested in being on the committee please call or
email.
 Read a thank you note from Dr. Holley thanking the PTO for their dedication and her
wonderful send-off and library mural dedication. It was the ‘highlight of her career’.
VP Fundraising: Terri Williams
1757 Golf Club fundraiser will take place soon. Families can purchase $10 coupons for a
bucket of balls (regularly $13) which will be good for a year. PTO will receive $4 for each
coupon sold. Still deciding when to run the new fundraiser; April a possibility.
VP Academics: Caroline Credno
Approved $260.63 for shoelaces for Kelly Clark, PE teacher. Motion made to approve
$538.65 for Scholastic News for 1st Grade. Motion carried. Approximately $3,200 left in
budget for the school year.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Bingo: Jennifer Rodriguez
Still looking for gift card prizes. Bingo scheduled for April 9th. Key Club will again send
students to help. The Spring Raffle will run in conjuction with Bingo this year. Tickets are
$1/each or six for $5. Promoting the raffle with incentives on the morning news.
Box Tops: Diane Insari for Betty Mattimore
Mrs. Davidson’s class won the ice cream social.
Cultural Arts: Diane Insari for Sharon Polly
Live Egyptian animal show coming up on 4/8!
Dinner for Dollars Restaurant Nights: Ann Cates
Buffalo Wing Factory scheduled for 4/13 from 4-10 pm. Potbelly coming up in May. End of
year ‘blow-out’ possibly at Fuddruckers in June.
End of Year Social: Angie Morris
Scheduled for June 12th. Still looking for committee chair. PTO will be purchasing the
‘prizes’ this year; looking to spend $500 or less. Still researching what to get.
Fall Fundraiser: Sandy Bricka
Committee has researched other comparable product lines to Sally Foster (such as Innisbrook)
as well as a ‘productless’ fundraiser – such as a walk-a-thon. Motion made to try a new Fall
fundraiser next year and move away from selling a product. Motion carried.
Grocery Fundraiser: Terri Williams
Earnings are close to what was budgeted. To date:
$1,950 – Harris Teeter. Ends the end of April.
$6,001 – Giant. Ends the end of March.
$440 will be the next payout from Target.
Hospitality: Betsy Goodwin
Getting ready for Teacher Appreciation Day on Wednesday, 5/5. Working on gifts now.
Sufficient budget for remaining events.
Scholarship: Debbie Cosentino
Deadline for applications is 4/6. AES needs to have candidate selected by 5/3 as the County
needs winner selections no later than 5/17.
School Supplies: Heather Mihalic
Order forms will go home Thurs., April 8th. Orders due 4/23. Online ordering will be
available (no sales tax). Online orders will be shipped to the school. If you miss the order

timeframe you may be able to purchase online but you will not receive the discount and will
have to pay shipping and sales tax.
SCRIP: Angie Morris for Beth Shannon
Order forms coming home soon for the spring sale. Information sheet detailing SCRIP went
home 3/18.
Skate Night: Debbie Cosentino
$1,400 profit realized. AES won $500 for being selected as one of the schools to be featured
in the Washington Capitals Click to Win Program. Contest will start soon; details on how to
participate will come home with students. If AES wins the contest, in addition to $1k, we
may get a visit from a Washington Caps player as well as a signed jersey to display in the
school.
Faculty Representative: Mrs. Walthour
 Family Art Night held 3/18. Thanks to Mrs. Smith and the children for all the
wonderful pieces of art.
 Hispanic Information Night is scheduled for 3/24 from 6-7:30 pm. AES currently has
51 Hispanic students which is a new sub-group for AES.
 SOL information night will be 4/15 from 6:00-7:00 pm.
 Approximately $3,700 left in the Field Trip Budget. Enough funds remain to support
planned trips.
 Every family is asked to complete the Ethnicity Survey. Currently 370 families have
not responded. The online survey is no longer available so the school will manually
input the information into the system once the completed form is received.
 CogAT testing will take place 4/7-4/9 in second grade. 5th Grade SOL’s this week.
 Severe budget cuts for next year. State revenue increased $31M however the State
Board of Supervisors allocated the entire sum to reduce the tax rate vs. funding the
LCPS budget. Some classrooms to have 27 students next year. Need parent presence
at budget meetings to support AES. Budget details will be shared as they come
available.
