Is used to explain many things including:
 Natural phenomenon
 Life events
 Human Nature

Has influenced western culture in many ways
including our language.

For example, many words in the English language
have their groups in Greek myths:
 Atlas – comes from the mythical character Atlas
who was condemned to hold the world up on his
soldiers.
 Tantalize – comes from the mythical character
Tantalus who was condemned to stand in a
pool of water with food hanging above him. If
he went to get a drink, the water would recede
and if he would reach for food, the food would
elevate.

Many things come from Roman mythology which
has its roots in Greek mythology such as:
 The Planets: Jupiter, Mars, Venus, etc…
 Cereal: comes from the god Ceres, the god of
agriculture.
